Next trip we are going to venture over to AKL for the first time to have dinner on our AK day. Looking for suggestions on which to choose. My oldest DS was wanting to try Sanaa to see the animals but I'm not sure that should be the only reason we go there lol

IMO, the real reason to go to Sanaa is for the bread service. =)

Kidding aside, the food is pretty good at both locations. When are you going? If you're going for dinner and it's going to be dark outside, you might not get to see too many animals.

I guess it really boils down to how adventurous your diners are (meals at Sanaa are more highly spiced than other restaurants, but not overly so if you ask me) and whether you want a table service restaurant or a buffet.

I would think we would do it for an early dinner. So I would imagine it would still be light enough out to see the animals.

Sanaa would be better compared to Jiko. Both look good. I picked Sanaa cause the menu seemed better to me.

Boma if im not mistaken is a buffet type meal. So for dinner I would chose Sanaa.

Really totally different dining experiences. Boma is a buffet. If you have not tried that type of food, its a gret option to start. Many different options from tame to adventurous (and all good). Tends to be very noisy and tables seemed crowded together.
Sanaa is sit down. Less adventurous to adventurous foods. Not as much variety as its not a buffet.
Both are good. While procier, our favorite is Jiko. A step up from Sanaa.
Good luck, I don't think you can make a bad choice.

I'm going to bump this up to see if I can get a response without re-asking the same question!

I currently have an ADR made at Sanaa. We are a family of 4. My DH is a little bit of an adventurous eater, as is my 11 year old. I am not terribly adventurous but I'll try some new things. We also have a 4 year old who is quite picky. Would we have a better experience at Boma because it's more of "African food for beginners" or would we be okay at Sanaa?

If only eaten at Sanaa once and I felt the food was unadventurous! I was expecting really tasty curry and felt the two options we had were bland. One was chicken one was beef. Looking at the menu I can see the options have changed so maybe it is a little more adventurous now though!

I think you would be OK at Sanaa. The children's menu has items for a picky 4 year old. I don't think you need to be particularly adventurous to enjoy Sanaa; nothing is too "challenging." Boma is one of the best WDW buffets, but I think Sanaa is the better overall experience. I think you'll be fine with either one.

I think all three of the TS restaurants at AKL are nice. Boma is a candidate for best buffet on property, Jiko and Sanaa are more upscale and a bit more subdued. I wouldn't bother with any restaurant to watch animals though. There's no guarantee you'll see animals and there are loads of opportunities to view them elsewhere at AKL and at AK. :earsboy:

If you want a sampling of some African foods, with some American type foods available then Boma is your place as long as you are ok with a much nosier atmosphere. Sanaa is a quieter and calmer location with some nice menu items. The food at Sanaa is quite good. We have been there several times, but never seen animals.

Given that you are not very adventurous and have a picky 4 year old, I think you would be much better served at Boma. The food is still very good with a wide variety of food. You can have conservative food up to very adventurous and everything in between. With it being a buffet, you can also try small amounts of many different foods.

I've heard it can be difficult/impossible to see the animals at Sanaa when it's night. Of course, there's lookout areas all over AKL so either way you should be able to see the animals!

I haven't eaten at Sanaa yet, but Boma is a great meal. Has some adventurous food with some safer options for pickier eaters!

We liked the food and atmosphere at Sanaa. Having a view of animals was nice, and going out to AKL's outdoor firepit after dinner to watch animals on the savanna using night-vision goggles was memorable, too.

Both are wonderful places to eat!!

Sanaa isn't terribly exotic, put perhaps lends itself to a somewhat more adventurous palate. Boma is definitely a more conventional choice.

However, the viewing area outside of Sanaa is in my opinion the best in the AKL.
