Hey everyone! I was hoping to get some opinions from those of you who have been to Sanaa in AKL. I may make a ADR for the 31 of August for dinner if the fam agrees soon enough!

We are a family of 5, consisting of Mom, Dad, me (19), sister (21), and brother (16). We like trying new things, and the menu looks sooo good! We would be going there after hanging out all day at AK.

Anyway, food porn and opinions are very appreciated. TIA! :)

We ended up going to Sanaa in June by accident. We were support to eat in EPCOT and the day before I cancelled the EPCOT ADR and got the Sanaa one (we were staying at AKL). We LOVED Sanaa!! My son (age 11) said this is his only choice for our next trip. He got the steak but they gave him potato wedges and green beans instead of what came with it (I don't remember what it was but he would have never ate it!!) so that was also good. I would highly recommend, the atmosphere and the food were great!!

No food porn, sorry. But I do have this to say about it....

I'm the primary planner in our family. I do ask DH and DS for input regarding where they want to eat, and I work those into our plans. My DH is very much a "go with the flow" Disney-doer. For dining, he doesn't care WHERE we end up eating, he knows how much I stress about getting the "perfect" ADRs and such. When it came to planning this trip, Saana was the ONLY place he requested that we work in again. The food is good, and I think it's one of Disney's hidden gems.

Totally agree with the PPs. Sanaa is the only restaurant DD 14 requested on our last trip, after we had dined there twice on our previous trip. Everything we've tried there has been wonderful, and we'll definitely be back. Especially if you like trying new things, I think you'll really enjoy it. And the atmosphere is wonderful! My family laughs at me because I ooh and ahh over the bathrooms; they're gorgeous!! Enjoy!

Love Sanaa. First time was in 2011..........it was a "must do" for 2012 ADR's. both times were fantastic!!

DD15 just mentioned yesterday that she could go for some butter chicken!! Both her and DH also loved the short ribs.

My favorite is the tomato soup (boring, I know), but It's so good.

For dessert.........The orange sesame cake. YUMMY!!!

This is on our must do list for 2013.

Another "Love it" vote for Sanaa. It's now a family tradition every year.

So glad to see so much positive feedback around Sanaa. We have an ADR for there in September, it'll be our first time and we're excited because the menu looks so yummy!

Agreed with the previous poster - glad to see so much love for Sanaa! Looking forward to trying a new restaurant. :goodvibes

I haven't offically been there yet so I can't comment on the food, BUT I have been doing research on restaurants and we now have an ADR there for our Novmber trip. I've read amazing reviews and it seems that a lot of people really like it. I can't wait to try.

Last trip, I had an ADR for there too. Two weeks before our trip, DH started having second thoughts and insisted we cancel and find something inside the park. We were going to eat at Tusker House but it didn't look very appealing from the outside, so we went somewhere else.

Absolutely LOVE Sanaa! The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is great and the food is wonderful!

We stayed at Kidani Village last year and ate at Saana the first night. We didn't have ADR, but they were able to give us a great table with a decent window view. The food was great. Love the Naan bread. Be sure to get the bread service with different dipping sauces. Totally awesome! We even ordered it a couple times from room service during the week. The service at Saana was the best of the entire trip. The bar was a nice place to get a drink before retiring in the evening. Very relaxed.

I don't like to say this too often because I don't want it to get too popular but Sanaa is our favorite restaurant at WDW. It's delicious.

What about for a picky family? I am embarrassed to say I am afraid to try scheduling a "different" restaurant because it will be expensive and what if we don't like it? How unusual are the sauces on the food?

The atmosphere sounds amazing, but will we like the food? The only ethnic food we ever eat is Italian and Mexican, and they are very Americanized versions at that...

On a side note...this is at AKL right, we don't need park admission to eat here, correct?

Thank you in advance for not judging our pickiness :)

Agreed! It's terrible, really, spread the word!!! :rotfl2:

Re: picky eaters...my husband isn't super adventurous but he was fine at Sanaa - I think he ordered tandoori chicken.

The rest of our table ordered the "slow cooked in gravy" option and we all loved it. Our favorite choices were the green curry shrimp (not spicy or overloaded with curry) and the beef.

We had a wonderful evening at Sanaa, but the secret must be out because In March, even with an ADR we waited 40 minutes to be seated.

Saana is at AKV. It is the DVC lodge at AKL. No park ticket is needed.

No judgment here -- my DS is the pickiest eater ever!! He made a meal out of the naan bread and absolutely loved it!

DH and I booked Sanaa in a whim before our WDW trip last year. Originally we had planned on Boma, but switched the reservation because of the view of the animals and because DH likes Indian food. It was our favorite meal of the trip! The food was delicious, and we truly thought it was a good value.

Here's the food porn you requested!

Bread service with naan, and two other delicious breads I forget. We got the mango chutney, the red pepper hummus, and I think the coriander raita, but I forget:

Entrees - in front is my dinner, a combination the beef short ribs and red curry chicken with basmati rice (I had trouble choosing between the two...so they did a half portion of each!):

In the background you can see DH's tandoori chicken, also with rice...and of course the decimated remains of the bread service ;)

YUM YUM YUM.

WOW! All this positive feedback is making my mouth water!

I have eaten at a few Indian restaurants, but none have ever gotten talked about liked this (but then again none of them were in Disney World ;)). Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences with me. This is definitely a place I am going to try and reserve, and I'm starting to realize I'd better hurry. :ccat: Thank you Mackie Mouse for the food porn and review, and thank you everyone for your reviews! I really appreciate it! *hugs*
