Okay, so the bread service with all accompaniments is definitely a must (shared between me and my BFF), but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for entrees and/or appetizers that are stand-outs? To be honest, nothing really jumps off the menu at me. I'm not a lamb fan, and most of the dishes described are so out of my norm that I'm not sure if I'll like them or not. I'm not picky at all, I love to eat (LOL), but I'd love some suggestions!

I had never tried Indian food before my first visit to Sanaa, and it turned me into a fiend! For that first trip, I stuck to the board's recommendation of the bread service and the butter chicken (under "Potjie Inspired") and it was awesome.

Looking at the current menu, I see they now have an "African-inspired" biriyani. That could also be very good, depending on what sort of African flavors they put with it. Biriyani is sort of like an Indian fried rice, and is another favorite of mine at local Indian places.

The butter chicken is a safe choice. The sauce is tasty, not spicy and the chicken is always really tender.

Butter chicken is what I've been thinking, so that's good. That's the "journey" part of the dish...any suggestions for the "harvest" (I think that's what it's called?)

I would go for the aloo masala, it’s curried potatoes and should be flavourful but not spicy.

Nothing on the menu is hot-spicy except a few sauces for the bread. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

For the record, I have no issue with hot/spicy food, LOL. Love it, in fact. Non-spicy is fine too!

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'm looking forward to more. Maybe I need to go watch some Sanaa reviews on Youtube.

The beef is the best and if you like spicy then the shrimp. And if you have kids order the shield cookies for desert

Sanaa is our favorite! The bread service is wonderful and definitely a must do. Do not be afraid to ask your server any questions.....my sister once ordered a dish that ended up being quite spicy. The server took the meal back and replaced it with something more to her liking.

Enjoy your trip!

The separation of choices into 1 meat and 1 veggie is new since the last time we were there. I'd probably go for either the aloo masala (spiced potatoes) or the paneer tikka (grilled/marinated chunks of a cheese that has a tofu-like consistency).

The salad sampler is a nice accompaniment to the bread service. I like to mix and match the various salads, breads and spreads. Spicy durban shrimp and butter chicken are my favorite from the Journey and paneer tikka from the Harvest. The scallop and oxtail appetizers sound intriguing, but I have not tried them yet. Sanaa is a contender for my favorite non-Signature restaurant.
