Sanaa is the name of the new Restaurant being built at Animal Kindom Villas. It will be Indian Themed and overlook the Savanah. Here is a pic of a sampler of food that wil lbe offered. This was being served at the Doorway to Dreams promo this weekend.

Here is a list of the items that they served:
-Potato Samosa (the deep-fried pyramid pastry)
-Chicken Satay with a lime-based sauce and only a hint of peanut (chicken on a stick)
-Kefta (meatloaf on a stick -- this was a lamb dish, well spiced and prepared)
-Cucumber yogurt salad
-Crisped bread
-Two chutney

Any idea when it will be open or is it open now?

Cool, they definately need another restaurant or two in that resort.

Restaurant probably won't open before Kidani opens, which isn't until 2009.

The Kidani Village is suppose to have the first phase completed somewhere between Dec 08 and January 09. I don't know when the restaurant will be open, but Disney has been actively developing its menu.

We had most of that in the concierge lounge at AKV last month. The potato samosas are disgusting - who thought peas in mashed potatoes were good??

Indians. I love samosas, personally. It's more than just peas and diced potatoes. Maybe the ones you had in the lounge were nasty, but I've yet to have a bad samosa. Indian food is my favorite.

I generally can't stand samosas, but the ones we had at the Doorway to Dreams event were pretty good! I had no problem cleaning my plate, and part of DH's too :D

Also, just for the record, there is nothing I like mixed in my mashed potatoes more than peas... except maybe corn :D Mmmm peas and mashed potatoes :D

I don't like peas in potatoes. But if you slather it in tamarind sauce I'll eat peas in asphalt.

I am kicking myself that I didn't bring my camera to the DVC event, so I'm thrilled someone posted a pic! (But even if I had brought my camera, it might still come out blurry!) I thought the food was pretty tasty, and the cucumber salad was a pleasant surprised because of that spicy afterburn kick that was totally unexpected!

I'm familiar with the lavosh bread, which I've always liked. And the samosa reminded me of the samosas served during the Food and Wine Festival. I liked it at F&W and at this event. The corn chutney was nice and slightly sweet, and I think the other sauce was harissa. I chowed down on the chicken and lamb like it was going out of style. Yum!

I don't think most of this is unfamiliar to those who eat at Boma and Jiko, and I think Sanaa will also have the same vibe. I am looking forward to trying Sanaa, at any rate.

I do. It's actually a pretty classic combination. I have seen pea puree blended in with mashed potatoes many times. Plus I love to mix mashed potatoes with peas and like the other poster said corn too.

We recently discovered Samosas at Tusker House, they are Wonderful! Excited to see they will be served at the new location as well. Anyone know if this will be table service or buffet style like Boma?

Please excuse my naivety :rolleyes1 but what's the Doorway to Dreams event?:confused3

Doorway to Dreams is what Disney calls their first-ever Disney Vacation Club sales center located outside of WDW. It's a storefront in a mall in a suburb of Chicago. They recently had a special event for current DVC members to give us a presentation and sales incentives to add on more points.

The food shown in the picture was given to everyone who attended this event, to showcase the new restaurant that will open with the new building being constructed for Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas.

I think I'm giving information overkill, but this at least might fill in some gaps. ;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
but hold the asphalt on my samosa, please! :rotfl:

Seriously, I'm really looking forward to Sanaa, an Indian food restaurant sounds like a great addition to WDW dining!

Thanks for posting a picture of the food sampler, it all sounds wonderful!

Can't wait for this restaurant. It sounds like another interesting and delicious menu. AKV/AKLis going to be quite a dining destination.

Yet another reason to stay or visit AKL!

This will be a nice addition for the many international visitors, esp. those from the UK where Indian cuisine is standard and often considered the best local food...lol
