San Diego Hotel HELP!!!

I am making myself crazy trying to pick a hotel. We were going to stay at the Navy Lodge North Island, but the dates for next year are not out and I am worried that we might not get a room (from what I hear it is hard to get in there) and then miss out on a deal at another resort so I am thinking that I will book somewhere and then depending on when the Navy Lodge post dates and if we think we will be happy there can change our reservations.
We are looking at Paridise Point right now as another option. Has anyone stayed here--GOOD, BAD, UGLY? Trip advisor has lots of 5 stars and alot of 1 stars so not sure what to think.
Any other choices? My DD is going to be 6 and it would be great if it were on a beach she loves to play in the sand, but good pools will work too.
I have check on the Hotel Del Coronado and right now the rates are high no discounts.

We've always had good luck with Humphreys and The Dana. I'm not sure of your budget, but both are gorgeous and probably a bit more money that other hotels in the area. Both are fairly close to Sea World, Wild Animal Park, etc. too.

We just stayed at the Hilton Bayfront for $135 per night. Absolutely GORGEOUS and within easy walking distance of the Gaslamp District and about a five minute drive to Old Town and SeaWorld.

They must be feeling a pinch because they offered me 4 days/3 nights including theme park tickets and 15000 HHonors points for $250, to be used in the next nine months. I couldn't do it because I'm a teacher, otherwise I'd be all OVER that.

Yes, and yes. Our room was right on the water. The breakfast buffet was looking out over the water and was beautiful. I would go back there in a heartbeat!
