What do you consider over-priced?

We stayed at the Grande Colonial in La Jolla - it was pricey, but it was beautiful, roomy, and 1 block from the cove.

The Glorietta Bay Inn is right across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado, which is just steps from the beach:

Use "Google Maps" to get an idea of how close the hotel is to the beach. :thumbsup2

While the mansion rooms are more for couples, the Contemporary rooms might be something you'd be interested in. They have good internet specials going on, with prices ranging from $159-195/night.

While I haven't stayed here, another place is the Coronado Beach Resort, which is right next door: http://www.coronadobeachresort.com/rates.asp

HTH! :)

When we go to San Diego we usually stay at Catameran resort and Spa it is close to the beach ,has beautiful grounds, last time we were there they offerd a free evening cruise around the bay ,they also have a free arcade which our kids loved.
We were pleasntly surprised when we booked our room for early Nov. and it was only $135 a night :cool1: we just got a standard garden view but i find the price more than worth it
