San Diego airport

Southwest is located in Terminal 1; you don't have to go through security to change gates. SAN is a very small airport; your connection time is fine.

Thank you. I could tell if the the section with 1 and 2 was separated by security or how far if really is if we get off at gate 1 and have to get to gate 10.

There's 1a, 1, and I think 2 that do appear to be separate from the main T1 area. We've actually left out of there before, but they were doing construction according to my brother and I don't know if it was normal or not. And I can't remember if we were on SW; like I said, there was construction.

I agree that SD is small, but IF SW flies from those 3 gates, and IF the flights are into that area and out of the other (or vice versa), the OP will have extra security, as far as I can tell (and remember from my fuzzy brain).

Bumbershoot is correct. There are two separate security checkpoints. Once, when I didn't check which gate we were flying out of, we went through security for gates 3-9 only to find out our flight was leaving from gate 1 or 2. To transfer from one to the other depends on time of day. The security line for the 3-9 gates can get long.
