Has anyone been to San Antonio lately? We are considering going on Memorial day weekend. We are looking for a good priced nice hotel. It will be me DH, DS 3, DD 1, so we need a good clean room. We would like it near one of the attractions that we are planning to see. We plan to see the Alamo, go to Seaworld, the zoo, and the childrens museum. If anyone knows of a good hotel please let me know!!

Thanks!

I've stayed at the Amerisuites and Homewood Suites on the west side of town and the Hampton Inn and Suites on the east side. All were nice hotels and easy to get in and out of. Of the three, I like the Homewood Suites the best just for their breakfasts.

Hi,

I was there last weekend and planning to go back in 2 weeks.

What is your price range for hotel? and where do you want to stay close to sea world area or downtown riverwalk(which is really a fun place to stay)?

We stayed at marriott rivercenter which is connected to the rivercenter mall. We got a rate of $149.00.

There is a lot of places in the $120ish range with continental breakfast on the riverwalk like residence inn, etc.

If you want to stay closer to seaworld are, I think there is an embassy suites that also has free made to order breakfast.

If you have a higher budget say around $180-$200 you can stay at the Westin La cantera resort which will be really fun for the kids since they have a river tube pool and it is closer to fiesta tx,seaworld, etc.

have fun!!:yay:

Not trying to hijack the thread by any means, but may I ask a question? My DD and her DFi are planning on going to San Antonio next year for part of their honeymoon and want to stay on the Riverwalk (we've been to SA before but didn't stay there). Do you have any great ideas for a honeymoon type hotel? TIA!

We stayed in a suite in a LaQuinta near the Marketplace and it was nice. It wasn't the one right across from the market but a bit further out. DH earns tons of free nights at LaQuinta while he's on the road so it's perfect for us!

I like the Hilton Palacio del Rio or the La Mansion del Rio. The Hilton is in the middle of much of the activity and La Mansion is on the edge of it. The two riverwalk Marriotts are nice but a little too business-like for honeymooners IMO.

Congratulations to your DD!

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk last weekend - we LOVED it. It was just the two of us & we found it to be romantic - very nice, comfy, elegant room, but it would work for a family too. We loved the location - we had a view of the Riverwalk & were just across from the Alamo.

Priceline - $105/night.

I wondered about the Hyatt! I've been afraid that so many people cutting through the lobby would be disruptive but apparently not. I love the water garden and the little bar on the balcony.

I live in SA. Will you have a car to get around? I would recommend a Riverwalk hotel. Both Marriott properties are nice and very convenient to all of the downtown activities. You can easily catch a trolley/bus to most of the downtown attractions. However, most are within walking distance of the Riverwalk. The Hyatt and Hilton are 2 other excellent choices. Seaworld is a good 30 minute drive from downtown.

I will pass all 3 of these on to her. I had looked at the Hilton (I think all of its rooms have balconies or are waterview, can't remember which). She said that she'd like that. Her DFi has never been, and he's looking forward to visiting the Alamo (he's a history buff).

I'm assuming that parking is going to be expensive at all of them. Would that be a correct assumption?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks for your help. I was trying to keep the price low, but for memorial day weekend it became hard. I found the candlewood suites near the medical center. They said the alamo was 5 miles away and seaworld was 15. That is fine with us. We booked a one bedroom suite with a sleeper sofa for 363.00 for four nites. I think we got a good deal and with two kids we need a kitchen and living room area. Thanks everyone again! I can't wait to go.

I just stayed at the Hotel Contessa. It is was beautiful and is on the Riverwalk.

hotel contessa is nice also but I love the Westin riverwalk. It has the heavenly beds and showers.

Also the westin has afternoon local mexican non alcoholic drinks and cookies in the lobby along with a local band. really comfy couches all around to sit and listen.

By the way you might even the a basketball player here since the guest team always stays here. We saw a few in the elevators.

Valet at the Hyatt was $27/night with in & out privileges - I think it was $24 for self park, so the valet seemed to make sense to us. It was similar at the Marriott where dh's conference was held.

The lobby is really two levels - the regular ground floor lobby with the registration area & guest elevators, and the Riverwalk level (part of the water actually connect through there) with little shops and a door directly out to the Riverwalk. Both were peaceful, but just outside on the Riverwalk - lots of activity.

I particularly enjoyed my guacamole & prickly pear margarita at Boudrou's!
