I was hesitant to try San Angel Inn since it gets such bad reviews. I'm so glad we did. We ate there today for lunch and really enjoyed it. The only bad part was since I was driving back I couldn't try a margarita. Guess we'll just have to go back. :sunny:

I enjoyed our meal there too...of course that was before we moved to TX. Now I get my fill of Tex-mex. But, we had a great lunch there. And their margaritas are very good...yes, go back for one of those ;)

We had lunch at San Angel this past Thursday. It is always one of our favorites. And I did have a margarita, strawberry, very yummy.

DH and I had a great dinner at San Angel Inn earlier this year. The food was surprisingly good, nothing like the generic counter service food in the cantina. And I can't imagine eating in a lovelier setting!

DH and I added this to our list of restaurants for September. Never been to San Angel Inn but I've always thought it looked lovely. I'm glad to see some positive reviews about it.

We love the San Angel Inn. My family prefers the dinner menu, but have had good lunches there too.The atmosphere is very romantic and the kids like the river ride that goes by. Another positive review for the San Angel Inn

My mom and I like lunch at San Angel. We split the Mexicano platter.

We like San Angel. We were there at almost closing time and watched the boats ride around with only cm's on them. :)

Ate lunch there in April with DW and DD4 and was surprised at how mediocre the food was. Honestly, it wasn't awful, nor was it anything about which I'd brag or recommend. The setting was lovely to be sure, but the tables there are as crowded together as any I've ever run across. Our service was decent, though the food was a tad slow in coming out especially given that less than 1/3 of the tables were occupied. As for the margarita, it is by far one of the worst I've ever had: too sweet, too syrupy, and seemingly minus any tequila. I couldn't finish it.

All that being said, I'm fully aware that sometimes you catch a place on a bad day. Maybe the kitchen wasn't fully staffed, and perhaps the bartender went a little heavy on the mix vice the alcohol (though true margaritas should NEVER be made with a mix). At any rate, we may try San Angel Inn again, just not the next time we visit. :earsboy:
