Samsung Front Load Dryer @ Lowes $201.00!!!

So if they do end up canceling all of our $201 dryer orders are they going to call each customer that ordered one and give them the choice on adding the washer or not, or are we just SOL?

I get sick of these huge retailers making stupid mistakes, and canceling orders all the time vs taking care of the customer when it was their mistake to begin with. They make millions in profit every day....then they whine about it when their sales are down later....I have no pity on ANY big retailer that goes out of business (small shop owners is a different story).

I was told that corporate is telling each store to call the customers that ordered only the dryer. I don't know if they really will be able to or not. I was also told when I ordered the dryer that I would have it around the 13th of Dec but the manager told me today that they sold 1800 units and it would be at least 3 months even if I ordered the washer. I was also told that there were signs stating that you had to order both to get it for 201.00 which I did not see any of those and when I asked for proof she said that they did not have any of the signs left. I then asked her about the website pricing error but she just kept repeating herself over and over-I don't know, I'm just relaying what I was told from corporate. I do think they have a mess on their hands as well. It's not like I asked for that price and they had to make an adjustment-that is the price that it rung up.

I wrote an email complaining at Lowes.com. They forwarded my complaint to the Manager at my nearest Lowes. He called and left a message to call him back. I returned the call but the Lowes operator left me on hold for 10 minutes. I had to hang up and haven't had a chance to call back. I wonder now if it will just be a waste of my time.

I just talked to a manager at Lowes and she said that per corporate that all orders for the dryer at 201.00 were to be cancelled or we could order the washer to get it for that price. I think I will fight this-maybe through small claims court? Or would that just be a waste of my time?

In the state I am familiar with, a small claims action can only be brought to recover money damages-like if someone damages your car, you can sue them for repair costs, etc., or if Lowes took your money and refused to give you the dryer or your money back. In this case, Lowes refunded your money. You cannot sue in small claims court for "specific performance", i.e., you cannot ask the small claims court to issue an order compelling Lowes to sell you a dryer at a certain price.

I don't know if small claims court is the same in every state.

:sad2:
Gee, I hope so. It wouldn't be great to lose a job, especially right now and right before the holidays.

I agree with you completely...I hope my comment didn't come off like I was wishing ill-will towards anyone, I just think it's one of those things that no one really thought through before they did it. :guilty:

The store manager from my Lowes called me today after I had written a complaint to Lowes.com. I explained the situation of the dryer issue. He was very nice and said he would honor the price for me. :thumbsup2

i remember the kitchen aid pricing mistake , after ordering my kitchen aid items thru Lowes i was told 10 days. Then i received a phone call that it would be more like 30 days to 2 months and did i still want the items.
this may be the same case, getting everyone to cancel because its going to take 3 months.

I just got a call from my Lowes ( i was afraid to answer the phone:rotfl: )
they wanted to tell me that the dryer wont be in until the end of Jan., I told them that was fine.

Anyone else get their dryer yet or canceled?

can you use any name brand pedistal for the dryer or does it have to be samsung pedistal?:confused3

I've had mine for a week now...but I purchased the whole set, so they may be giving priority to people that did.

I purchased the set, was told it would be delivered today. Got a phone call last night confirming delivery. Got another phone call this am from the delivery guy saying he would be here between 12 and 5. Got another call from same guy saying he would be here in 45 minutes. Get another call from him saying "oh, we don't have your merchandise" not a minute after the previous call. In the meantime this morning I get call from our salesguy saying he got an email from Samsung saying they are trying to fill the orders as fast as they can and that we won't be getting a delivery today. I am so pi**ed right now I can't even think. They are saying they don't know when they will get the units in. They wanted to sub a Whirlpool set instead, I said
no way - I want the Samsung set. Still going back and forth with Lowe's on how to resolve the issue.

Now that everyone has gone out and purchased a new dryer. Go online to your utility company and see if they are offering a rebate. If it is an Energy Star dryer that is on their energy efficient list you might be eligible to get a rebate from say $25 - $200 back, depending on model.:thumbsup2

Before I appliance shop I alway go online and print out the list and take it with me. It can make a big difference in overall price.

Lowe's called me last week to tell me that my dryer was in. They had called right after I bought it and told me that I could not have it for that price without buying the washer too and that they were going to cancel my order, but they never did. We went and picked it up the day they called so we have had it for about a week now and I love it!!:cool1:
