Samsung Front Load Dryer @ Lowes $201.00!!!

Just a heads up...the salesman @ Lowes told me Sears is running the same promo -- but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Well, the store just called me back and said, nope. Have to purchase them together.

Sorry to hear that. Lots of managers are declining the price of the dryer, however some have been successful in arguing my point where the website had it listed as an individual piece at $201.00. This DID NOT require you to buy the washer. I had it in my cart last night and checked out. No problem. Went to the store today and picked it up. They had another one in stock so I bought that one too for my parents. No problems whatsoever. These gung-ho managers that have a chip on their should have caused some good people to lose out on a good deal for whatever personal reasons they had. It's weird that hundreds of people were able to order these and others were denied.

I'd buy both for $999.00 and then return the washer. When you go to pick up both items, simply tell them that you no longer want the washer and they will then have their hand forced to credit the $798.00 price of the washer while the remaining $201.00 for the dryer stays on your receipt. If they wanna play by the rules, then you are within your right to make sure they get a taste of their own medicine.

Yeah, I told him I knew people were able to buy them separate and also that it was on the website this morning for that price. He said "I feel sorry for those that sold them at that price because they're probably without a job." Seemed a little extreme on his part.... but I tried. Guess we'll stick it out with ours that the knob is broken on and it's tendency to overheat and melt things! :scared1::laundy:

If we had one in town, I'd be willing to try to work it a little more, but with being so far from one of the stores, I think at this point I might just drop it. Although, there are lots of stores in Minneapolis... I suppose I could call around and keep trying!

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it! I did pass along the info to my parents who were looking to replace both their washer and dryer. Maybe it will work out for them.

Just wanted to add that the town I live in is giving a $200.00 rebate on water efficient washers. So do check with you town/city.

I happen to live in a very arid climate and we have water shortages from time to time.

It ended today. It was supposed to carry through until tomorrow, but the sales associate I spoke with today told me that they received a memo that it was to end tonight.

Now, anyone who needs a pedastal for this that DOES NOT want to pay $198.00 for it you will need to call around and look for part #256000. They should ring up at $28.01, but some may be even cheaper. If someone finds more than 1 LMK please.:)

I've been trying to find the pedestals for that price with no luck. Was it at Lowes, or elsewhere?

Yes, it was at Lowes. Many people have purchased these items as clearance items as they are no longer available.

I called 2 stores. Both said I could not get it without the washer.:sad1: I really need a dryer.

So...since most stores have to order them in, I wonder what would happen if you bought the pair, but then went back in a day or two and cancelled the washer? Also, I wish I would have checked out slickdeals because what some people did was go to one store and ask if they could just get the wash for half the promo price, and then went to another store and buy the dryer. They were basically getting the whole set for around $700...and before they bought the washer they bought (3) $100 giftcards separately that each included a $20 rebate and each one of them spit out the $10 off coupon. They used that to pay for the washer, then turned around and used the $10 off coupon on that purchase towards the dryer. And if someone really forced the issue, they probably could have gotten the 10% military discount if they qualified!

I did not think about the gift card idea....that would have been a great idea and a good way to get a little cash back - even if it's in the way of a $20 Lowes GC.

We ordered our dryer yesterday at a Lowes store, went to the register, a manager rang us up at the $201 price and we left. The "appliance dept. manager" called us back last night and was all upset and was threating to cancel the order - we called back today (Sun) and talked to him and an assistant store manager and they were both rude and hostile and both said they were just going to cancel the order. My husband asked for the district supervisors name and he really did not want to give us the information, but he finally did. We also asked to talk to the head store manager and he did not want to give her name either, but he finally did and then he said she would not be in until tomorrow (Monday) but would not say what time she came in - he was really difficult about giving out any information. I guess he just did not want to be "tattled" on since he was so freakin rude.

I called back not 2 minutes later and asked for the head store manager by name and....sure enough....she was there!! So he LIED the entire time. She knew about the situation and had already told them to NOT cancel the order BEFORE he called us!! He was still going to do it anyways I guess.

She said the order is still in the system and she put notes on it to not cancel it. We are going to check again tomorrow and then again in a few days to be sure it's still there. It seems that the asst (remove the T there if you like) store manager and his buddy in appliances have thier "own agenda" here and they both LACK in customer service skills.

The head store manager was really nice and professional and said it was "Lowes mistake" and that they need to just honor the price - "hello"....that was our point when he talked to the jerk that called us earlier in the day, but he would not even listen.

Hopefully we'll get the dryer and that will be the end of it....I guess we'll find out soon!

Thanks to the OP, I'm a proud owner of a new dryer !! :cool1: :cool1:

My DH searched the house for dirty clothes but couldn't find any so he wahed the throw pillows !:rotfl2:

We had to drive an hour each way but so worth it. Plus the Lowes on our way back had one pedestal left, got it for $12 !

Total cost of dryer w/ pedestal $231.63

Again THANK YOU !

Michelle

p.s.
now I need a new washer.;)

Lowes just called today and said that they are going to cancel our order. Can they do that after we have already paid?

Apparently so. Others have met the same fate. You need to tell them that the price of the dryer was $201.00 online. I had mine in the cart, in fact, it's still there as it's "stuck" in my cart.

If they want proof that it was for $201.00 on their website, show them this:

I am very surprise that Lowes canceled your order. When Lowes made the price mistake on the kitchen aid products, Lowes honored the ad.

Did Lowes charge your cc, when they canceled did you get your refund right away? I would call the manager of the store and talk to them.

I just talked to a manager at Lowes and she said that per corporate that all orders for the dryer at 201.00 were to be cancelled or we could order the washer to get it for that price. I think I will fight this-maybe through small claims court? Or would that just be a waste of my time?

If they cancel your order and refund your money you really don't have a case against them. It would be different if they cancelled your order and they kept your money.

But they never should have taken the money upfront for something that they knew to be an error...yet they promised quite a few people they would be able to order the dryer for that price and accepted payment for it. I think this is definitely going to come back and bite them in the pa-toot-y. Wonder if the poor sucker that programed them to ring up that way still has a job?

Price mistakes happen all the time and most businesses have disclaimers about not be responsible. I would be pretty mad too, I have had a few orders cancelled due to price errors, after I have paid. My money has always been refunded or never even taken since the item never shipped out. Amazon is known for doing this alot. I think threatening to sue a company for cancelling an order is a bit extreme, but thats JMHO.
