We just bought a Samsung Refrigerator from Lowes and it makes this huge humming sound, is that normal ? My whirlpool refrigerator never made a sound. Was wondering if anyone else here owned one to compare notes, thanks

I have one, also bought at Lowes, and it's silent. Did it make the sound from the time it was installed or is this something that recently started up?

We purchased the Samsung French door fridge with the "snack drawer" above the freezer, and I had the exact same problem!! It sounded like a truck idling in my kitchen. It only bothered me; the kids and dh weren't bothered at all. I tried to adapt, I really did, but in the end I had to return the fridge to save my sanity.

We purchased a Kenmore French door fridge to replace the Samsung (no snack drawer, but we don't miss it) and it is so much quieter!!! Don't get me wrong, it still makes some humming noises, but NOTHING like the Samsung.

I hope your fridge settles down to an acceptable level; it is really no fun to live with a noise like that.

This has me curious now. Judy, does yours have the "snack drawer" like CanbeGrumpy's?

I'm actually thinking of trying to return it. I can no longer take the loud hum, grr :furious: Yes it has the snack drawer.

Forgot to mention that we got ours at Sears and luckily they had a 90 day return policy. I tried for nearly the entire 90 days to adjust to the noise, but I just couldn't do it, and I got my return in right before the 90 day window was about to close. I'm not sure what Lowe's return policy is, but don't suffer as long as I did. It honestly stressed me out big time. I actually was going to my friends' houses to listen to their fridges to see if mine was in the range of "normal" for noise!

I bought it back in March while remodeling my kitchen but just plugged it up this week, I need to check my receit, I know we took out the 5 yr warrenty but I'm sure it doesnt cover exchanges.

Have you had anyone come and check it out? The warranty on the Samsung is really good. The hum may be considered "normal" for your particular model though. :worried: We had trouble the first week we had ours. It's the model with 2 ice makers and when DH went to FL for a few days, I was home alone and the icemaker in the door got stuck and ice spilled out and covered the kitchen floor and was beginning to flow into the dining room by the time I discovered it. :scared1: What a mess!!!

Yes we have the two ice makes too, and it does seen to stick a little already ??

If you can return it and get another brand, I would. My DH is an appliance repair man and he always points people away from Samsung. The parts come from Korea, and I know of at least 2 refrigerators they have been waiting on parts for 2 months on, with no ETA on when they will get them.

Oh boy not good...and I'm shocked for as much as I paid for this thing . :faint:

Who does your husband like for appliances I just bought a new house and need all new.

I have a Samsung French Door refrigerator, no snack drawer. No noise, no troubles at all! I've had it nearly 3 years. I LOVE it. My only issue is that its so big, I lose things!

Have someone come take a look.

I've heard that LG parts come from Korea and take forever to arrive. I hadn't heard it about Samsung. Oh, I did have one problem...I knocked a bottle of booze against the plastic bin and cracked it. I ordered another, from an online site. I had it in 3 days.

He said Frigidaire, because they seem to have the best customer service.

LG and Samsung part both come from Korea. Sometimes, it doesn't take the Samsung parts long, but other times it can take an extremely long time. It's just the luck of the draw.

Oh and just to let you know, that if you have someone come out and it's found to not be the fault of the appliance, the company that comes out is supposed to charge you their service charge. Plus noises usually aren't covered under warranty.

Also, I know it's not worded this exact way in your warranty information, but if you have an appliance in a garage that doesn't have climate control (central air and heat), that voids your warranty as well.

I have a Samsung French door. Can't say it is noisy. Our complaint is beverages are not cold enough. Lowest setting is 34 and drinks need ice. We have had it checked out

Oh boy, I have somewhat noticed this as well but thought it was just me, no wonder it has two ice makers haha

Where we live Samsung is very highly rated by sales and service alike. We have had our Samsung fridge with the French doors, bottom freezer and pantry drawer above freezer and absolutely love it. We've had it almost a year with no problems so far. It does make humming noises at times and when the ice maker is emptying and filling, but not a constant hum for sure.

We also have a FL steam washer that we love from Samsung.

Believe it not, lots of brands have parts that are made over seas.

Yeah. We researched the net and talked to repairmen and got great reviews on Samsung...that's exactly why we bought one. After we got the problem fixed with the icemaker, we really love ours. :thumbsup2

We've had a French Door Samsung for a couple of years, and have never had a single problem. I like Samsung products.
