Samsung French Door Refrigerator

Believe it not, lots of brands have parts that are made over seas.

That may be true, but Samsung (and LG) parts can be harder to get than other brands. Honestly, most sales people probably aren't aware of the issues that can happen trying to get parts. All I'm saying is that my DH works on all brands of appliances and they have the hardest time getting parts (and the right part) on Samsung appliances. Hopefully, you will continue to not have issues with it. Like, I said, I have seen people with Samsung wait for months for a part to come in, with my mil making a call every day trying to find out what is taking so long. The worst case was a Samsung French door frig and they needed the bottom ice maker replaced. After waiting a month, the part came in. When it came in, it was the wrong part, even though it was the part number they were told was needed. Waited a little over another month, got the same part, they receive before. The customer ended up getting it replaced.

We have the Samsung with the pull out draw, we just love it. I love opening the door up and seeing the cool lights. :rotfl2:
We bought it about 4 weeks ago, no noise.

Haha this made me laugh. When we first got ours my husband and myself stood with the doors wide open looking at the cool lighting and saying awwwww. LOL! ::yes::

We just bought a Samsung Refrigerator from Lowes and it makes this huge humming sound, is that normal ? My whirlpool refrigerator never made a sound. Was wondering if anyone else here owned one to compare notes, thanks

I bought a Samsung side by side about 5yrs ago from best buy and it does this also. I also can't use the ice dispenser in the door cause it puts plastic shavings from the auger. It still works and keeps stuff cold but I'll never buy a Samsung refrigerator again.
ETA -all this started about a year after I bought it, I told the wife we'll just get a new one when it breaks, till then I just don't use the dispenser and its noisy.

Where we live Samsung is very highly rated by sales and service alike. We have had our Samsung fridge with the French doors, bottom freezer and pantry drawer above freezer and absolutely love it. We've had it almost a year with no problems so far. It does make humming noises at times and when the ice maker is emptying and filling, but not a constant hum for sure.

We also have a FL steam washer that we love from Samsung.

Believe it not, lots of brands have parts that are made over seas.

I purchased a Samsung washer dryer set for my townhouse when my Kenmore died after ~ 2 years (don't get me started on that :furious:) and it was awesome so we purchased a Samsung refrigerator and a smart TV and I love both. We have the french door with the snack drawer (only one ice maker that I know of) and it is not loud at all (except when the ice falls if the ice holder is not pretty full) which is good since the refrigerator is right outside the master bedroom!!! I would have yours looked at. Overall I am happy with all my Samsung products, my GE dishwasher on the otherhand:badpc:

We recently bought a Samsung counter-depth french door refrigerator, but the only noise we hear out of it is the sometimes startling sound of the icemaker processing ice. If you have the same model, I'd say it's a problem, not normal.

Well I am now waiting to hear back from someone at Samsung to hear if it's a normal hum or not ?? Lowes told me to call Samsung :scratchin

We have a Samsung Frnch door fridge and we've never had any problems and no hum. It's just over 2 years old and we moved a year ago and it made the move with no problems. Obviously, not the same model as in the original post, that sounds like a newer version of the French door.

Just wondering if the OP ever got any resolution to the noisy fridge situation. I'm hoping she is living with a quieter fridge by now!

If you can return it and get another brand, I would. My DH is an appliance repair man and he always points people away from Samsung. The parts come from Korea, and I know of at least 2 refrigerators they have been waiting on parts for 2 months on, with no ETA on when they will get them.

I just had a client tell me the same thing! From her repairman.

Just bumping again to see if there is an update!

Oh boy I'm sorry I didn't update sooner...I don't come to the disboard every day and forgotten about this thread.

They would not let me return my refrigerator under warrenty they would only repair, so they sent out a local repair shop to check it out and they did not think the sound was unusual for a brand new product so he basically did nothing but told me if it continued then they would see what they couldn't do about the noise. I have to say the noise has quited somewhat since then and I did have them go in and fix the temp level on my refrig as I did not think it was as cool as it should have been so they did change the factory settings there. So right now no complaints but I won't be buying a Samsung again if and when I have to replace again. :rolleyes1

This happened with our Kenmore several years ago a month after we got it. Within 12 hours of the hum starting the compressor died. Take it back.

I had the same complaint but was told they could not adjust the settings. Do you have a # setting on the refrig?

Sometimes if it's close enough to the purchase date, they will let you return it. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you have to have at least 3 repairs for the same issue within a certain time period (which I can't remember how long it is) to replace it, or the repair has to cost over a certain dollar amount.
