Samsonite luggage question

I bought a new Samsonite bag for checked luggage. It was on clearance and did not have info tags on it. It is a big bag and has swivel rollers. Is anyone familiar with this luggage and whether it is okay for checked bags or not? It's kind of an odd shape, when it is standing up it's wider on the bottom than the top. I know this info is sketchy, but I can't even figure out how to measure it because of the difference in the widths. Thanks.

The width is the widest part. The height includes the folded down handle and the wheels.

For example, stand it on its wheels and take a book or clipboard held horizontal and bring it down until it touches any part of the suitcase (probably the handle) That is the height measurement. Next, lay it on its side and bring the book or clipboard down to touch any part. Finally stand it on end (you may need someone else to help hold it steady) while you bring the book down to touch it.

Another way of thinking about it is to ask, how big a perfectly rectangular cardboard box is needed to put it in if you were going to sell it on eBay or otherwise ship it not exposed.

Be aware that a lot of stores are clearing out suitcases that are too big to check in on airplane flights without incurring oversize charges. You may end up having to return it.

go to ebags.com and search 'samsonite spinner' and see if your bag comes up. If you purchased it at a mid-lower range department store you may not find it as Samsonite produces different lines for different types of retail.

Several lines are narrower at the top; anything over 26 inches risks being over the weight limit, especially the cheaper lines as they are heavier empty.
