We've had a new Sams Club open up a couple miles from our house. I don't have a card yet, but do have a guest pass to use. It's been a few years since we had a card, but I remember they used to be limited in the type of payment they would accept. Can anyone tell me what forms of payment they accept with a guest pass? Thanks :)

Not sure if a guest pass is different than a regular pass, but DBF has one and we've been a few times- they only accept cash, check, debit card and Discover I think.

I remember they scoffed at my Visa/Mastercard because they would have to pay fees to take them. :guilty:

As far as credit cards go, ours takes only Discover and the Sam's/Wal-Mart credit card. I use my Visa check card but have to use it as a debit. Of course, they take checks and cash, too. :flower:

Thanks :) I'm planning to use my Check Card. So, I'm guessing this won't be a problem as long as I use it with my Pin #.

You're very welcome. I have a BIG family (four kids, including a teenager, and a big Army guy for a husband) so I shop there by necessity.

FYI, I once wondered if I was really getting my money's worth there versus shopping at the next-cheapest store, Wal-Mart. Being the nerd that I am, I did a small study with about 100 items I could buy at both stores. What I found was, comparing ounces to ounces, units to units, etc., I could save up to 20% at Sam's.

The 20% was if I ONLY bought at Sam's what was cheaper. If I bought all available items at Sam's (of those in my "study"), I saved about 15%. The difference is that some items are not offered in a generic at Sam's. I think a lot of food items aren't good generic (like "Pop Tarts") but things like freezer bags are very cheap in a Wal-Mart brand.

On a final note, I've recently been watching eBay for Wal-Mart/Sam's Club shopping cards that I can get for 10% off the face value on "Buy It Now." I see them A LOT from sellers with very high feedback. You have to keep your eye on the auctions all day (refresh! refresh!) because they sell almost instantly at that discount. Just another thought for the budget-minded!

Happy shopping!

It used to be that if you were using the guest pass you could only use cash. Don't know if that has changed or not. Maybe that info is on the website.

I looked on the Sams Club website and searched "guest pass"- this is what came up: http://samsclub.com/eclub/popup_std_template.jsp?CntId=2005superpageP

It says:

Become a Member today and avoid the 10%
Service Fee that applies to all nonmember purchases.

The SAM’S CLUB® One-Day Guest Pass is good for one day only. Only original certificates will be accepted. A 10% Service Fee applies to all nonmember purchases when shopping with the One-Day Guest Pass (not applicable in CA, SC, or Elmsford, NY). You must pay for your purchases with cash, debit card (see Club for qualifying networks), Wal-Mart Credit (Wal-Mart MasterCard not accepted at any SAM'S CLUB location), or Discover® cards only (no checks). You may apply for Membership, subject to qualifications, while visiting any SAM’S CLUB or online at samsclub.com. Guest Pass not valid on samsclub.com.

Not sure if that's what you have- but that's the info I found :goodvibes

The other option you have if you want to use visa or mastercard is go to Wal-mart and purchase their gift cards using your credit card. They can be used at Sam's. I have done this before so I could get credit in Disney Dollars on my Visa.
