Sample SAT Questions-These are in theory tought questions

My DS just took the SAT last weekend. I notice this morning the following article on MSN and tried the test. See http://encarta.msn.com/quiz/quiz.asp?quizid=24 I

The lead in on MSN said that these were tough questions. I got 5/5 and did not find these questions that challenging.

oops, I missed one, but that reaffirmed that I don't want to take that test again! yuck!

The verbal section is always my least favorite section in these tests. I got all of them right, though.

I LOVE the verbal part in relation to the math part... I remember opening up the test booklet, looking at the first problem and starting to cry! Math SAT... my worst nightmare!

LOL! I did well on all of it, but if any part gave me a headache or made me nervous, it was the verbal!! It's not testing any *real* knowledge, it's really testing vocabulary. If you don't know the vocabulary, you can't reason out the answer like you can in math.

I agree those weren't all too difficult, and got them all correct. I still remember the day I took my SATs.......standing outside Merritt Island High School (the closest available testing location) at 6:00am in the rain with a girl from my French class I drove with and about 100 other kids...the power even went out in the rooms for awhile, but not during testing thank goodness!

I got all five correct also. I'm considerably older than most people taking the SAT, however, and I wouldn't underestimate the value of experience and maturity when taking a test.

I can see how a high school junior, taking the SAT's for the first time, stressed out, being timed, might find them a little challanging. And, unfortunately, not all children receive the same education. They all have to take the same SAT's, but some students are taught more life skills than they are vocabulary skills or math skills. Our public school education system is not an equal opportunity system. Unfortunately.

I got 5/5 too, but I do have about 30 years more life experience behind me and no pressure of a timed test.

If those were supposed to be hard, I'd love to see what they consider easy....I got 5 out of 5.

I took the SAT last Saturday...those questions would have been considered the easy ones, IMO. I found the verbal to be pretty easy, but most of the questions were a lot more difficult than those. (I got 5/5 on this one...I can only hope that might possibly mean a good score on the verbal, at least!)

I didn't find these particularly difficult either and I was much stronger on the math than the verbal when I took the test. However, I agree with others that the 30+ years that have passed since I took the SAT probably give us an advantage over a high school student.

I didn't find these that terrible to do either, but I think under the stress of the test these might feel harder. It also reminded me why I hated taking tests like this!!!

my dad just handed me this articlie printed out so let me take it and see how i do
I got 4 out of 5...one of them I flat had no clue on...I'm horrible at the English part of the SAT...those weren't hard...there were some on the test i was like-hmm...i dunno what that word means so i skipped it...lol

I took SAT on Saturday too...I just hope I did decent on it...I'll probably take it at least one more time..probably 2
