Same Day Fastpasses

Just a quick post on this topic. We stayed during week of 5.18 and was able to get pretty much any 4th/5th etc. fast passes we wanted. Multiple same day soarins, FOP, SDD and 7DMT were available. I keep reading not being able to get some of these at 60 days but they were plentiful same day using refresh method.

It is very dependent on Crowd mix at the parks, Day of week, size of party, time of day, etc. But, yes, using refresh, which is what we do all the time and dont worry about 60 day out FPs, we dont stand in stand by lines and can find whatever we want in most cases. That being said, its a party of 2-4 with everyone in the group being quite adept at refresh for new FPs and adjusting times. So at any given time all of us are working on the same thing and can generally make it happen. Is it representative of everyone? Likely not. But, with practice and all factors falling into place does it work pretty regularly..Absolutely.

That was what we found interesting - people would be waiting in standby and there were FPs either immediately available or at a point in time much sooner than the standby wait times.

It happens more often than you would think, especially on busier days or Holidays because the percentage of guests who understand how to use FP is smaller, which makes it easier for others who understand the system. Once you master refresh, youll find you dont worry about EMH, The 60 day window, or feeling it necessary to stay on property all the time. Other than EMH RD to get on FoP, which is still the toughest refresh to pull, we have found we can walk into a park on any given day without any FPs and do whatever we want as long as our group is 2-4. If its more we just do group split and overlap FP times.

During our trip a week and a half ago, I had zero issues using refresh at MK to get FP for pretty much anything we wanted (I went in with FP for 7DMT so that's the only one I didn't look for BUT I was able to move our existing FP for it using refresh). I had a little more difficulty at HS trying to get SDD but I kept trying and was ultimately able to get that as well. I had no trouble at Epcot either but I only used refresh twice (Character Spot which wasn't hard to get but needed to be moved earlier, and then Soarin'). At AK I was able to use refresh but that was to get a FP for TSMM later in the day as we were hopping there.

That said, it wasn't particularly crowded. The rain every afternoon seemed to send people running to the bus/ parking lot while we soldiered on. We had Epcot nearly to ourselves Monday when it rained all day until around 4 PM.

Glad it worked out. I will say refresh becomes an obsession with some people once they figure it out and are on a ride centric day in the parks. Ive almost stopped having to do it because the 2 people I go with most have become super users and I often just walk along and laugh at how easy they make it seem. The question isnt what should we ride next, its become so what did you grab a FP for next.

As mentioned, the availability of FPs os very crowd dependant.
We were there last week. At the parks on busier days we were unable to get FoP, Navi.
We were able to get anything at MK except 7DMT.
HS able to get all including SDD.
EPCOT everything was available.
Sometimes we had to refresh a few times, or get a time we didn't want and then modify. It seemed easier to modify a time for a FP then to originally find a FP at the time we wanted.

What do you all mean by “refresh”?

open MDE, click on a Fp and click modify. You can look for a different FP or a different time.

After I tap in fo rthe 1st FP, I click on the next FP and click modify and see if I can move the time up. Clicking on different times does give different results.
Our last trip, my daughter and i kept modifying FP all day. We found that getting a FP for a ride we wanted at a time we didn't, seemed to increase to chances of modifying it to a time we wanted. For instance, we wanted pirates at 2 pm. Not available. We took pirates at 6 pm, then clicked modify and 1,1:30, 2, 2:15, 2:30 came up.
Using this method, we got 8 different FPs for MK on a Saturday. We could get everything but 7DMT and PP as and extra FP.
