Sam as you found out in chat, several of us would love to know about your wedding plans and as you assured me you wouldn't mind posting, please tell us :) :) :) !!
The dress, the place, the decor ..... anything and everything you don't mind sharing with us :)

Thanks for posting this, Shirley :)

Yes, Sam, details ..... please :)

Aloha,
Lorraine ;)

LOL I hadn't posted before becasue I didn't want to bore you all but what was I thinking, how can a DISNEY wedding be boring to you guys ;) ;)

So where to start - I guess the date, Thursday 13th May 2004 We chose this as we wanted to cruise for our honeymoon on the Eastern 7 nights on the Magic and we enjoyed the weather when we went on the Wonder in May so we thought we'd go for the same week and have the wedding beforehand.

The Location - The Yacht Club Gazebo
Now I know that the Wedding Pavilion is both beautiful and popular but for us it is the YC that holds a very special place in our hearts, it's where Paul took me on holiday for our first trip together, I think he may now be regretting that ;) Our ceremony will be held at the Gazebo, which is very pretty at 11.00 am.

The Reception - Ariel's, The Beach Club
We're so lucky, I don't know if any of you know this place but it used to be a public restaurant at the BC. It's now used for conventioneers for private dining. It's through those wrought Iron Gates in between going outside for Stormalong Bay and Cape May Cafe right next door to Martha's Vineyard. It has a big fish tank in there. There were so many places we could have held our reception but we figured it'd be nice for all our guests just to be able to walk over to the reception.

The theme - I've learnt very quickly with Disney Weddings that I needed a theme. Alot of Disney brides have themes including, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast etc etc. As we're at the Y&B for the day and Ariel's for our lunch we've chosen our theme as "Under the Sea" it should work well.

The special event - we're laying on something extra for the evening. We are having a private Illuminations Dessert Party in Epcot. We have reserved the UK Lower Terrace on the Lagoon behind the Rose and Crown - I'm sure you've seen events happen there, this is what Bob Sehlinger used to refer to as the "secret garden" all those years ago. We will be serving desserts and drinks and we think this will really top the day off.

We will have about 35-40 guests attending the whole wedding and we are most honoured that our American and British friends and family are joining us all the way out there for our special day.

OK any questions just fire away.

It just sounds absolutely wonderful Sam :) !

Questions..... hmm, where to start??! It won't be long before you are contacted by a wedding-co-ordinator, will it?

Are you having a wedding package?

I missed what you said about the dress in chat......... any thoughts on what you might wear?

There is a pic of the Yacht Club Gazebo (not very clear but still) on this site

Will it be a first time visit to WDW for family members? Are they all staying at the YC too?

Is that enough questions to be getting on with  LOL????

BTW, you publish your cruise dates at your peril - you run the risk of Kevin Stringer hitching a ride :teeth:

You see now you've got me started Shirley I won't be able to stop.

At the moment we have just signed our contract with Disney Fairy Tale Weddings (FTW) and paid our deposit. I was assigned a Sales Manager for that process who was super. I am now waiting to be assined my Event Manager (EM). We are having a Custom Wedding Package - if you have more than 13 guests you have to have the Custom package. With a Custom you have to ensure that you and your guests will book a total minimum number of room nights within WDW (not Swolphin- but DVC does count). The total number of nights is dependant on the number of guests that you have in your party. As nearly all of our guests are staying at WDW this is not a problem. We also get to choose 3 resorts that we will be offered a special wedding discounted rate for our guests to make it more worthwhile to stay on-site.

A lot of our British friends have never been to WDW and probably had no intention of going in the near future so we do feel quite honoured that they are coming for our wedding.

A lot of our American guests are DVC members so they are all staying at the Boardwalk to leave us in peace at the BCV although we said we wouldn't have minded if they'd stayed at BCV as well.

A couple of our guests are staying at The Yacht Club and we will also stay there for a little while as we get one free night, as part of our package, at a resort of our choice and of course we chose They Yacht Club :)

Can't tell you anything about the dress yet as I've not even looked LOL this is on the list of things to do VERY SOON!!

I think you'll find Shirley I checked Kev's dates before I booked ANYTHING :p :p

Thanks for putting the link to the Gazebo in - this website is my second home at the moment ;)

That all sounds really wonderful:)

This sounds wonderful Sam - I am going to have a peak at Ariels next week :)

Sam, it you're at all interested in an American dress you better get looking. They can take a long time to come in.

Sounds beautiful. I'm already crying. ;)

Well I'm nearly as excited as you Sam (as you well know!)!! Woo hoo!! :Pinkbounc

It all sounds amazing and I'm just a tad looking forward to staying at the Yacht Club and being there too!! :) :) :) :)

The 13th? The 13th!!!!!!!

I'll be there for the 30th!

I knew I should have got my ears washed out.

Still, I could always pop over a bit earlier. I'm ironing my lovely green shirt with the naked ladies on it just for the occasion.
Do they serve beer in champagne glasses?

And is it bad form to burp when they ask if anyone knows of any reason why.... etc

I like to get the proper etiquette sorted out up front.

Kev

LOL Kevin I thought you said the 13th not the 30 th - we both had crossed wires just send the invite back ;)

BTW - you'd love the etiquette at our wedding: no hats and no-one's allowed to burp until after the bride's breathed out ;)

Wow Sam, you got Kevin to post. You should be very proud.

Sounds like your planning the most fantastic wedding Sam.

Wish I was getting married..............drat I've already done it!

Never mind maybe next time.;)

Good luck with the rest of your planning.......how exciting is it having a 'wedding planner'.

...sigh.......almost makes me wish we were doing ours all over again Sam:):):)

I had a look at Ariels when we were there in May, it looks great! You lucky thing...;)

More details please as you make plans.......it reminds of our wedding then too......:)

Will you be having a wedding cake? Will it be the castle?

:D :Pinkbounc Oh it's all so exciting to be having a wedding in the "family".
