Sorry about your job, Sam. I hope everything works out for you. My MIL works for a school district here in WI and they are laying off 200 teachers. It is ridiculous, the education of our youth should be the LAST place cut backs are made. Don't let it get you down, enjoy your wedding and your planning session.

Introducing a new animal can be kind of tricky. But don't worry, over time they will get along. Cats are like that, my cat hated all of our other animals for like a month and just sat in a closet hissing at everyone. Then one day she just walked out like everything was normal and now she is like best friends with our dogs, she is one of the pack . so it takes time but they will learn to love each other.

That is exciting that your PS is coming up soon! Do you have lots of plans while your there? (Or did you already post about that and I just totally forgot).

You should definitely register for the Disney Honeymoon card. At least that way you won't need to spend a lot of your own money on your honeymoon stuff.

We are planning on spending 5 days there, and my mom is coming down (my parents are paying for most of the wedding ) and she's bringing my 6 y.o. nephew. We're doing a separate planning / tasting session, and I'm also doing a hair trial. I am really excited. How do I register for a honeymoon card?

Oh Sam! I'm sorry to hear about your job! I've been thinking about you as the war between Christie and the NJEA rages on! I hope you can find something quickly. I'm sure there is major stress with the house and wedding to pay for.

Hang in there and don't let this spoil your wedding planning fun - you are going to have your DFTW in just a few months which will be totally wonderful and everything will work out with the house and job too.

Oh and definitely let us know where you decide to register! We need to do that too. I was hoping to use the Disney Honeymoon registry, but there have been so many complaints here, I'm a little afraid to use it!

Definately use the honeymoon registry and keep us posted on all of the planning session news. Sorry to hear about the job, DF has been under-employed since he lost his job last summer so I understand some if the stress.

Thanks Amanda. The cuts are ridiculous. They cut science lab periods but didn't make sports pay to play. I think the cats are doing a little better today. We've got to be patient!

So big news...I was offered 2 positions!!! I've been really debating between the 2 but one was wooing me a lot more, and yesterday they made me this ridiculous offer! So I have a job. It's a bit of a commute but more money but the promise of much more money in the near future.

And we close on the house on Friday. YAY!!!!!


And in less than 3 weeks we are going to Disney for the PS. Any suggestions on food for the tasting???

Oh, and I've been working with the artist for the invitation, and besides our geekiness, I've asked for a little Disney thrown in...and superheroes...and maybe even some zombies??

June has been a good month overall. But owning a house is very stressful. Mike and I have already had 2 arguments (1 big, 1 small) and we never fight. It's just an overwhelming (but very happy) thing.

Here's what we requested for the cake tasting: Cake: Yellow, Chocolate, Almond, chocolate chip, and lemon

Fillings: Chocolate Mousse, White Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Mousse, Tropical Mousse, Bailey’s Mousse, Amaretto Mousse, Bavarian Cream & Buttercream. Peanut butter cup Mousse, Lemon curd?

And for the tasting: Trying the antipasto display, wild mushroom tart

Possibly the mushroom and artichoke salad

Parm encrusted chicken breast with the cream sauce on the side with the mashed potatoes
Grilled Mahi mahi with limoncello butter (possibly with a wild rice or something, not a big fan of mashed potatoes)
Filet with blackberry demi and mushroom risotto
Gnocchi with vodka sauce
We asked for some other things as well so we'll see...

Sorry I've be MIA lately. The house is definitely very time consuming, with painting and adding lighting and fixing and cleaning. It's never ending!! We haven't moved in yet, we want to get it spruced up (and man, we have spent so much money already! )

And now onto wedding news...I tried on my wedding shoes and they felt WAY too tight! I'm going to try stretching them but I also ordered a pair I've been looking at...I saw them on a wedding blog and I am super in love with them.

I totally get the being MIA because of the house thing, they are a lot of work aren't they? But once you move in and get settled it does calm down... a little, but there is so much more stuff to do than before. We did a bunch of stuff before and right after we moved in and now have finally had a chance for a breather. There's still tons more to do, but I'm okay with it not being done for a while. I know what you mean about Home Depot, there were weeks where I was going to Home Depot or Lowe's everyday, and now I still go probably once a week.

The menu tasting sounds great! You'll have such a great time at your PS.

You must be so busy right now! When we bought our house last year, I felt the exact same way. Even now, there are always things that we want to do to the house - but aren't right now due to the wedding being so close lol People told me that it is never ending and they didn't lie! And it is good that you feel better after getting the 'rant' out. Sometimes all you need to do is write it down!

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations and words of advice. Terrible news...our kitten is very sick. Mike thought he had trouble breathing on Wednesday and felt like we should get it checked out before we go to Disney for the week, so he made an appointment for Thursday. Right before the appointment, Link started having a really hard time breathing and started choking. Mike rushed him to the vet and I met him there and they did some blood work and x-rays. One of his lungs was totally deflated and the other was full of fluid, while his stomach was full of gas. His bloodwork showed he had a high white blood cell count. They suspected it was a fatal disease called F.I.P., and that he needed an ultrasound. We then took him to the emergency aminal hospital, and they took him and kept him overnight. They drained the fluid, took more x-rays and performed the ultrasound. We were allowed to take him last night and he's acting totally fine right now, but the prognosis isn't great. It's most likely it's FIP, but could be a herniated diaphragm or a congenital lung defect. Best case scenario it is a bad infection and the antibiotics will kick it. (So we are hoping this is the case). The cytology on the fluid sample won't come back until Monday (we are supposed to leave for Disney early monday morning) and we are hoping it's clear. Unfortunately we have to do the wedding stuff, so I'll be heading down to Disney with my mom and nephew while Mike stays behind with Link. I don't know what I'll do if the news is bad, and I'm in Orlando and Mike is in Jersey. But he's acting like his normal self right now, and they said most kittens who come in with suspected FIP need to be euthanized immediately and don't make it through the night, so the fact he is home with us is an excellent sign, and he seems totally fine, so I'm hoping this all a big over reaction and an infection and he's fine. I never thought I'd say this but don't want to go to Disney, and I don't want to leave Mike and Link. But I know this has to get done... I hate I feel this way about the wedding, but I don't want to leave our little baby.

Sam, I'm so sorry to hear about your kitten. I will be thinking of him and sending lots of warm wishes your way. I do think it's a very good sign that he seems to be acting like himself and that they sent him home with you. I hope he has a quick recovery.
