I just finished a taco salad from a local restaurant. It was lettuce, ground beef, and cheese, with just a tiny bit of sour cream and guacamole (the rules of induction say you can have a little avacado and sour cream from time to time). However, I did put salsa on it, and afterwards I started to think that this might be a mistake while on induction. It tasted really great, so I'd like to have it again. Does anyone know if this is okay?

Thanks a bunch!!

Nope, has sugar in it. Sorry. :(
I have had LC salsa though ever since induction- when I make taco salads (minus the taco ofcourse LOL) at home. I just found the lowest carb organic salsa at my local health food store- it's 1 carb per 2 tbsp- and that's because of the tomatoes. :)
But salsa anywhere else- you have no idea what is in it- and 99.9999% of the time salsa has sugar in it.
:(

Taco salad sounds so good. I know that I could make it a home, but I just haven't yet.

I am also very suspicious of restaurant's sauces, dressings, etc.

I even had trouble losing weight on induction with 20-grams of carbs. So now, on my 12th week, I'm still on 15-grams of carbs per day.

You can do it. Onward and downward.

God bless you, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

I just looked at the bottle of Picante sauce in the fridge and couldn't find sugar in it anywhere. DH lost 25 pounds on Atkins and is maintaining the loss. He put picante in his eggs and on salads. Check it out the next time you go to the grocery!!

I've found that the "fresh" salsas, found in the refrigerator section at the grocery store, have less carbs/sugar in them.

I like to make my own, because then I know what's in it! I just chop & mix together: tomatoes, onion, jalapenos, garlic, lime juice, and cilantro! Yummy!!!

Thanks everyone! I found some salsa today (in the refrigerator section) that had 0 sugar, but I also got a recipe from a neighbor to make my own. Mexican food is my all time favorite, so I'll do what it takes to make it work!!

There ya go- that's the way to do it! Much better to find a way to have your favorite foods than to give them up completely- because then you wouldn't stick with it as a way of life/way of eating! :)

Just a heads up that the Taco Bell mild salsa that sells in the stores have no carbs. I put this on my taco salads.
