Sales Tour

I hope to get to Downtown Disney early afternoon on a Monday. I'll head to the DVC booth and ask for a tour!

For the OP - When we did our tour, we had educated ourselves a good bit before hand. When we went to the kiosk, the CM told us the tour would take about 90 mins to 2 hours. We explained that we would like to JUST see the models and talk to the guide about how many points we would like and where. We did our tour in less than an hour and didn't bother with the free ice cream, lol! Because we were educated on the perks and such of DVC and the prices and incentives, it helped our guide to just do what we asked for. Maybe this would be helpful for you to do as well. Good luck on your visit and if you decide to buy any points. It wouldn't hurt to ask about resales while you're there so that you know your options there as well. That is the one thing we didn't know about - being able to buy at places other than SSR or AKV through Disney. But all in all we're happy with our SSR purchase!

Thanks. Good idea--however, if they're giving gift certificates or fast passes, I might stay for the entire tour. I have no intention of buying now, as I don't need the points this year, and would rather buy resale and save a few bucks.

I was talking to a CM yesterday when I was making my reservation about buying DVC when we were down there in January. The CM told me to make sure I asked about the cost of our trip being applied to our downpayment for DVC. The CM told me that the whole 7300.00 of our trip would be credited toward the downpayment.

True or False? And how much is a Downpayment for DVC?

$7300 credit? I doubt that. Good luck.

As far as how much the down payment is, I think atleast 20%, but IMO time shares should be bought with 100% cash. IMO when you factor paying intrest on a loan into the DVC equation, it is very difficult to justisfy the purchase.

In the past it was your actual cost for your room(s) (WDW resorts only)that was applied as your down payment, not your park passes or meals or anything else.
