Happy Sunday all!:goodvibes Hope you're all enjoying your day!

We are staying for the first time at AKL AUG 20-31, how long will the bus take to get to MK and is it usually standing room only on the buses in the morning?

Thanks

....it depends....the earlier you leave, the better your chances are for getting a seat...luckily, it makes no other stops. However, it stops at Kidani first before going to Jambo House, so you need to take that into consideration...

From what I have seen on my last 2 Kidani stays, the majority of the people are getting on at Jambo House. I think that there was only 1 time when the bus filled at Kidani and that was a mid-morning start. If you are a get to the park before opening (which I am) person, then the bus has been fine in my experience. It seems to the be 10 AM or so time when the bus is packed.

I agree - the last time we were at Kidani (Christmas) the busses were fine - but, that 9 to 10 am hour is pretty busy - we never had to stand though!

Made all our ADR's on Saturday.

100% Success rate (including Cindy's breakfast AND 2 Dinners at Boma!!)

Trip is coming up quick.

Can someone be so kind as to tell me how big the safes are in the room was wondering if I could fit my laptop inside :surfweb:. How close to your balconie do the animals get and when is the best time to see them?

I THINK I was able to fit my 15 inch screen laptop into the hotel room safe (just barely). I know I can just barely fit it in the AKV safe.

If you have a 17 inch screen, though....probably not. And if your laptop is just a smidge thicker than mine...it, too, might not fit.

Honestly, though...we rarely put the laptop in the safe. I stash it in a drawer.

Hahaha I see sorry, maybe some one else might be able to give some insight into which rooms have the best view of the Savanna :surfweb:

Zebra trail, Arusha Savanna view, room numbers >x501 and < x531 (where x = the floor number...so, for example, 2501 would be room 501 on the 2nd floor).

Floor preference would depend on your view preference. Upper floors offer a more panoramic view. Lower floors give you a more intimate (close up) view.

That location puts you close to the pool side of the resort, and Arusha is my favorite view at Jambo.

Bus ride takes about 15 min from the time the bus pulls out of the AKL parking lot (so, not including loading time at both Kidani and Jambo).

We've found the busses pretty empty, early.

By around 10 AM, they start getting VERY full.

And at park closing, they're a mob scene.

How are buses when it comes to strollers? Are you supposed to fold it and bring it on the bus with you or do they have a place to store them under the bus??
We will have our van with us so I have no problem just driving to the parks if needed.
Also, if we do drive to the parks do we have to pay parking if we are staying on property??

Thanks! :)

i'm not sure about the parking question because we used the busses the whole time we were there last time. For the busses we had to fold the stroller and carry it on the buss with us each time...we have one that folds down pretty good and were able to stow it under our seats most of the time.

You have to bring the stroller with you, on the bus. If it's a smaller umbrella stroller...that's no big deal.

If it's one of the larger strollers, or jogging strollers, it can be a pain to haul it on and off. If the bus is full, it can also be a pain to "control" it.

If you're staying on property, parking in the parks is free. They'll give you a parking pass to put in your window the day you arrive.

See...I think October IS coming up quick. :) Less than 180 days!

When you come up, can you try to bring some warmer weather with you? Today might be nice (70's, if the sun decides to come out)..but for the most part, it's been unseasonably cool.
