Hi all...
It makes me nervous just to write this down - but I thought I should explain - should I "disappear" for a while .... I live in the deep south coastal us - and a little lady named Irene is making all of us very scared.
just wanted to let you know - I will try to update when I can. Its too far out to be talking about evacuations yet - but Irene is big and ugly.
thanks for listening and lets please hope she curves out to sea...

So...bad news hit yesterday.

My mom and step dad were planning on tagging along (but getting their own room) for our trip in about 6 weeks.

Yesterday, mom got some bad news. She's a long time teacher and interpreter for the deaf, who "retired" about 5 years ago. She still supplements her pension, though, with part time work. The class she's taught EVERY YEAR for 11 years, and has run EVERY year for 11 years (because it's a pre-requisite for one of the degree programs), didn't run due to attendance. That's going to "cost" her about 6k.

So...they had to bow out. Kids are very sad (as are we) and my mom and step-dad were devastated. They were really looking forward to the trip...but know that they have to cut the extras out to make ends meet this winter...and the WDW trip is definitely an "extra".

Our group got a little bit smaller....and a little bit dimmer...yesterday. :(

Sorry to hear that. Hoping this is just a temporary situation and they will be along for your next WDW trip! pixiedust:

Yes, Sharyn - I echo Kathy's post. Crossing fingers that Irene stays away from the coast. Some pixie dust wouldn't hurt either! pixiedust:

:wave2: Good morning Kathy!

Much more comfortable than your "average" sleeper. It's the way they're designed (not, really, what you think of when you think of a pull out).

The caveat is this: The sleeper chair is NOT great if you're tall. The sofa is fine (especially if you're on it alone, because you can go a bit kitty corner)...but the chair can be problematic. I'm 6 ft 3 and my feet hang over by a good bit....I couldn't sleep it in it, for a long period of time, and be comfortable. I've napped on it, before...and my feet fall asleep from the pressure above the ankles.
Thanks for the info on the sleeper sofas. One son is 6'4", I guess he gets the sofa bed. The other is 6' 1" so he gets the chair bed, or he can bring an inflatable mattress in his luggage if he prefers.

At 6' 1", he's probably RIGHT on the cusp of "comfortable". His feet will probably be RIGHT on the edge.

Sweet! What a nice surprise! :thumbsup2 I'm wondering though - what's a "lady minute"? :rotfl:

Welcome back! From what I've read, the Expo was a HUGE success! :goodvibes

:headache: stupid smartphone! Last minute! Not lady minute! Silly autoctrrect! :lmao:

stay safe! Best of luck...she has already inflicted quite so much. Lets hope she loses her wrath soon and you can breathe easy again.

Morning Jamborini's - yesterday I got a video of my little p-nut moving "his" legs - my DS is so excited now, he actually could tell it's a baby and saw his little legs kicking, of course the other day they heard the heartbeat, but, all is well with her this time, they are watching her closely - but, things are progressing as normal - I'm SO happy and starting to breathe easy!!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!!!! :flower3:

Ok we are now on the plane and I will be off the grid starting now.

Here we are on the plane.

Have a GREAT GREAT GREAT time - I know you will!!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm back after 2 weeks on vacation, the majority of it at AKV. I ended up driving to WDW this time and really enjoyed the drive. My niece and I had a great time with only a few conflicts. :rotfl2: (12 almost 13 year old girl, need I say more?)

Most of our stay was at concierge level and we really enjoyed it. I did notice that there are less offerings than a couple of years ago but we still loved it. We did the sunrise safari which was awesome!

OK, so what did I miss in 2+ weeks of posts? I think that I saw that Laura is injured and that Kim may be back? I know that I missed more, but to be honest reading 10+ pages of posts is intimidating.

Welcome back!!!! Glad you had a good time!!!

Hi everyone!

We just came back from 4 nights at the Expo. Our (local) trip was extended as we met new friends at the Expo. The invited us to dinner at Napa Rose and at the last minute surprised us with the Chef's Table tonight!

We're back home and have a short DLR trip in about 5 weeks before wevhead back to WDW for F&W!

Glad you had a great trip!!!

Thanks y'all...

Thanks for all the support!

Pilferk - thinking of you - hope things will get better!

Hey, we are keeping an eye out too..........

Congrats on the p-nut! I remember the heartbreak of echos with no heartbeat; it means so much to see everything progressing normally!

Prayers for your safety, too!

Well that was...disconcerting.

I'm sitting here (in NW CT), and my house starts to gently shake (keep in mind, I'm in my basement office).

Went upstairs to check with my wife, and make sure I wasn't crazy, and...sure enough, she felt the same thing.

Come to find out: 6.0 Earthquake somewhere in VIRGINIA that was felt all the way up here.

I felt the earthquake here in metro Atlanta!!

First a hurricane coming - now an earthquake - please no more!
Honestly though - I didn't feel it down here - but friends 1.5 hours up the road did!
I hope everyone is ok!

Same here in central Jersey. Fortunately my son also felt it so my DH would believe me!:lmao: My son and sister were both evacuated fire-drill style from their buildings at work.

I heard about this on the news here in the UK. This is a somewhat unusual location for an earthquake. Hopefully everybody is OK.

Believe it or not, we felt it in Milwaukee. Not real strong, but definitely felt it.

Glad everyone is ok and it wasn't any larger. I felt nothing in Chicago, but it can be a really weird feeling. Somewhere near Chicago had a minor quake when I was a teenager and I remember sitting on my bed when I felt it moving. I thought there was a mouse under my bed, until I realized how BIG that mouse would have been! :scared1:  Found out later it was an earthquake in the Midwest.
