Let the chaos begin.

The movers are here packing the first wave of stuff to go to Okinawa. We won't see it for about 8 weeks:rolleyes: The house is upside down and thankfully I am not doing it myself. Otherwise, I would never be done packing:rolleyes1

It is 5 o'clock somewhere and a ZDome with my name on it right:rolleyes1:rotfl:

3 more days than we will be homeless;) and on our new adventure with a stop at the AKL:dance3: Gotta keep telling myself that to stay excited:laughing:

It all sounds very exciting and like a wonderful adventure, and yes it is 5 o'clock somewhere. :rotfl:

Everyone here is so friendly!

We can't wait for our trip. We ended up upgrading our room to pool view bunk beds. The other two in our party booked pool view regular rooms. My kids are so excited about the bunk beds!

Can someone tell me if there are any pool view rooms on the ground floor? I don't really want the pool ON my balcony - LOL!

I called today and requested second floor near the lobby/elevator. Thanks for everyone's input. Now cross your fingers in hopes that we get it!! :thumbsup2

There are pool view rooms on the ground level - they have a patio. I'm not sure I'd want one of them.

My 2 girls shared a bunkbed pool view room several years back and it was on the 3rd floor (lobby level) on Zebra Trail. The room # was 3422 (yes I keep a list of every room we've ever stayed in on Disney property!!). It was the last room in the first pod off the lobby. We loved that location! :goodvibes The other pool view rooms in that pod have a Boma roof view!

I'm not sure if someone asked this already, but does AKL have cabanas by the pool?

Uzima (Jambo) doesn't:

I don't remember them at Kidani's pool either, but we didn't stop by there this trip. :confused3

Let the party start :woohoo: Phase 1 complete. The movers just left with 3000 lbs of my stuff:rolleyes1 Time to party:

we are checking into kidani one bedroom on oct 9. when should i call to request a room location (knowing its just a request)?

and which rooms/location should i request?

im thinking the banks of rooms on the pemba safari by the pool area?

we have a savannah one bedroom, if that matters?

and which floor to request too?

i really need to do some AKV research!!

And how long is the walk between kidani and jambo house - can you walk it? is it a nice walk?

I'm excited that I switch my reservation from CBR to AKL today! I have been wanting to stay at this resort and with the PIN code that was sent out today, it made it very affordable. :thumbsup2

I've got a few questions that I hope you all can answer.

1) What kind of coffee are in the rooms?
2) Does anyone have a recent room service menu? Can you get a pot off GOOD coffee delivered? (assuming the kind in the room is the swill that I've heard about)
3) Is the entrance to Mara outside? The only pictures I've seen make it appear there is not an entrance from inside.
4) How early would I need to be at the bus stop to get to MK in time for the opening ceremony? This is really important to me and I want to make sure I leave enough time.
5) Can you use the pool at Kidani or just the pool at Jambo? I think I read some place that said you could, but not sure if it is still true.
6) Does anyone have pictures of the water play area at Kidani?

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to go in October. I'd actually been holding off updating my ticker since it is off a day, but now that I can do the AKL back ground I may need to go ahead and update it.

Hi all,

Just changed our ressie from Pop to Kidani 1 bedroom villa, I know, big step up ;) We're going 10/12-10/17 with my parents and I decided to upgrade as a surprise/thank-you to them. My dad was a zoo keeper for 30+ years and loves all things Africa so I thought he'd go completely nuts over AKL.

I'm so excited! I've always wanted to stay here. No one but me knows we're not staying at Pop and I don't think I'm going to tell them until we're pulling up to the resort. I'm going to try to read back as many pages as I can to learn all I can about this resort. So thanks in advance for all the wonderful info I'll get from all of you!

:thumbsup2

We just returned from our first Kidani visit and we loved it. We had a 1 bdrm standard view and it put us over looking the pool area but you really can not see the pool as there is so much vegetation in the way. It was a lovely view though. We were on the 2nd floor of the Rafiki area. The 2nd floor is lobby level. Parking was great and the lobby was not too far away. It appears that some villas could be a very long walk to the lobby.

We did walk from Kidani lobby area to Jambo and it is doable but still quite a distance in the August heat. I was wishing I had brought our resort mugs or at least some water. We chose to take the resort van back to Kidani as it was air conditioned. :thumbsup2

Some of your questions I can not answer. Sorry! We used the coffee maker in our villa and brought coffee from home to brew. We drive our own vehicle so I can not help a lot on the buses although I know Disney normally tells you to allow and hour to an hour and one half for travel times.

We had lunch at Mara and the only entrance we found was outside. You take the elevators out of the lobby area and head down to the Boma/Jiko/Jambo Pool area. You then take the doors that are between Boma and Jiko to head outside in a covered walkway to the left to head to Mara.

I was told that we could use either pool. We loved the one at Kidani. I have some pictures of it but there are also some videos of it on Youtube that are quite good. I have to get unpacked and get my photos downloaded so I can post them. We enjoyed the water play area at Kidani. It was perfect for our 17 month on grandbaby.

We enjoyed our stay and would love to get back there soon!:thumbsup2

:welcome: How exciting for you!! :yay: What a wonderful thank you to your parents! :thumbsup2

It will be awesome if you can keep it a surprise but you will likely be bursting at the seams with excitement!!

Most of the information about the resorts will be on page 1. We tend to stray off-topic here on this thread quite a lot!!

If you have any questions, just ask! ;) Lots of AKL/AKV lovers here! :goodvibes
