Sailing the Ocean Blue...October 6, 2012 Eastern Fantasy

I'm so excited! I have a cabin number. Knowing me, I've had it the whole time, but didn't know where to find it. :)

Please update my cabin number on the FE exchange. :)

Oh boy! I am super excited for all of you first-time cruisers! I wish my first Disney cruise was a 7-nighter! I tried a land/sea 3 night cruise back in 2007 with a friend to see if I would like it---I am afraid of water---and heights---but love Disney and the price was right in early February---I am now hooked for life! My husband Tom and I weren't blessed with children and we are asked all of the time---why Disney? and we say that we are kids at heart and we do like the way the cast members treat the guests. And we cruise for the BINGO games! Highly entertaining! Oh, and Castaway Cay is the only place on earth where I can totally relax---those magical swaying hammocks---and pixie dust laden pina coladas. I completely forget about how rough it is to be a Fed;-)

Be sure to take the tour of the ship---you learn all sorts of facinating facts about the ship---especially the carpets!

Don't try to do everything! I don't think it is possible anyway.

Take lots and lots of pictures and videos---keep a journal if you are so inclined---write down the names of cast members who did something special and when you get your survey on the last night don't forget to mention them.

Pick up the Mickey Mouse shaped confetti and carry it around like good-luck pixie dust charms---seeing that in my wallet when it is a gloomy grey winter day always lighten my mood!

Ask for extra character luggage tags at guest services---they make wonderful additions to scrapbooks or cute free! items to bring back for other people.

The biggest suggestion I have is if you think that you may want to take another Disne cruise----book a dummy date cabin for the on board perks!

I look forward to meeting you all:-)

Susan

Thanks so much for the great information.. I am so glad to see DH and I are not the only ones coming on this cruise without children... We too love Disney..and are kids at heart.. We chose the cruise ( first timers) as our 30 anniversary, since we went to Disneyworld on 25 and Disneyland on the 20 --- all without our children.. it's was just the natural progression of Disney experiences ...
Trying to talk DH into booking another cruise while onboard..I'm pretty sure we will book about the same time next year...
Looking forward to those magical swaying hammocks I have heard all about them from my children.. they said get up early to get one.. .
Looking forward to meeting you..
Julie

Laura's STITCH (because he's not bad; he just does bad things....we say this at home).

Jonathan (he has no favorite, but I made him pick) Grumpy

Jon Michael - Hans Solo (that's as close as my 12 year old can do) or Donald Duck

Logan Lightening McQueen

All caught up :thumbsup2

Wow double digits :cheer2::cheer2:

FE gifts are coming together. We are counting the weeks in our house which will soon be single weeks :cool1:

A big hit at the moment is reading the daily navigators and the kids are watching plenty videos of the aquaduck and kids club.

We have a variety off fav characters - DS phineas, DD1 Minnie Mouse, DD2 ever changing this week is snow white - mine is Daisey Duck and DH Ferb :)

I've been on five cruise with Carnival, but this is my first Disney cruise. I need explanations please.

What is pirate night? Do I get to dress up?

Formal night? I guess I know what that is.

Semi-formal night? I'll need an explanation please.

And about the FE exchange, I have so many ideas in my head for what I can make. How do I choose?

Pirate night is just that, dinner and evening theme based on the Pirates of the Caribbean. After late seating, there is a show up on deck that concludes with fireworks. Cool show and YES you can dress up! Not everyone does, but I have seen a lot of people dress in pirate garb for the evening.

With out starting a dress code debate, Formal Night is suggested Black Tie.
Semi-Formal is a notch below. Otherwise, evening dress is Cruise Casual. Check out the link.

FE's.....sometimes we do something local or from our area. Like one year, we gave out Goo Goo's because they are made in Nashville. I have another local that I can't give away!! And you might find something stuck to your stateroom door you were not expecting, but you will recognize it. That's all I'm gonna say!! :teeth:

Every time we talk about the cruise, my DS (4)talks about the Aqua Duck (she calls it the Donald Duck Slide) and playing with kids in Andy's Room. I am looking so forward to having adult time for a change:rotfl2::dance3:

My DH gave his tux away years ago (no longer fit him) So now he has an excuse to buy a new one (he is such a girl:rotfl:, he loves to wear a suit every opportunity he gets), he says that if he never uses it again, he can be buried on it:rotfl2:

Don't tell my DW, but I do enjoy dressing up periodically. :teeth: But if you are flying, and weight is an issue, as it would be with me, (the bigger the size, the heavier the garment!) you can rent one and have it delivered to the ship. Just have yourself measured and order here...

I have rented, but since we drive mostly now, I started bringing my suit and I just wear it on Formal & Semi Formal night. I send it and my dress shirts out to be pressed as soon as we get on the ship. Rest of the time, I will be in khaki's and a dress aloha shirt of some sort.

Thanks I have seen the rentals tux's and sounds great, we are flying but my DH is short so they extra material will be taken out in the height so they weight of it should not be a problem:rotfl: but my DH said he would rather buy it and have it on hand for future uses:rolleyes:

I understand completely!! Like I said, I like to dress up periodically, so I'm afraid if I have one here, I will have to use it more that I want to!! :lmao:

Pretty much covers it. I would echo if you haven't got much luggage allowance for those flying the rental option being a good option, if that's is your choice of attire. We are going down the road figured we are travelling a long way and have the space in our luggage. We have gone done a themed route for pirate night. Oh that will be a fun night also. Not giving any secrets away..... coming from Scotland we chosen some local items for our FEs.

Last fall, dh and I went on a carnival cruise and his pants didn't fit so I looked everywhere for some pants to match his jacket. Never could because his suit was a few years old so he had to squeeze into his pants for those 2 nights:rotfl2: so I have to buy him a new one this summer.
