Sailing the Ocean Blue...October 6, 2012 Eastern Fantasy

Oh boy! I am super excited for all of you first-time cruisers! I wish my first Disney cruise was a 7-nighter! I tried a land/sea 3 night cruise back in 2007 with a friend to see if I would like it---I am afraid of water---and heights---but love Disney and the price was right in early February---I am now hooked for life! My husband Tom and I weren't blessed with children and we are asked all of the time---why Disney? and we say that we are kids at heart and we do like the way the cast members treat the guests. And we cruise for the BINGO games! Highly entertaining! Oh, and Castaway Cay is the only place on earth where I can totally relax---those magical swaying hammocks---and pixie dust laden pina coladas. I completely forget about how rough it is to be a Fed;-)

Be sure to take the tour of the ship---you learn all sorts of facinating facts about the ship---especially the carpets!

Don't try to do everything! I don't think it is possible anyway.

Take lots and lots of pictures and videos---keep a journal if you are so inclined---write down the names of cast members who did something special and when you get your survey on the last night don't forget to mention them.

Pick up the Mickey Mouse shaped confetti and carry it around like good-luck pixie dust charms---seeing that in my wallet when it is a gloomy grey winter day always lighten my mood!

Ask for extra character luggage tags at guest services---they make wonderful additions to scrapbooks or cute free! items to bring back for other people.

The biggest suggestion I have is if you think that you may want to take another Disne cruise----book a dummy date cabin for the onboard perks!

I look forward to meeting you all:-)

Susan

All great suggestions Susan:thumbsup2 I picked up some of the streamer from the sail away party too but don't know where it is now:confused3

Nope, just doing my job and reading post and saw this one. Just wanted to say hi.

Ok, just wanted to make sure to welcome you on our cruise if you were sailing. Welcome to our thread even though you will not be "Sailing the Ocean Blue":wave2:

Hi!

The secret Mickey is a gift or a bunch of little gifts tailored to an individual given in secret but your identity is revealed later---this works best around the December holidays. Questions are asked---like favorite character, hobby, candy, sports team etc... and people are assigned by one person organizing the secret Mickey exchange. Not exactly like a FE gift. Usually the FE gift has a label from the giver and is pretty much chosen based on the interests of the giver. One FE I was involved in had a theme---we had to bring something from our state/city/region/counrty---that was really neat! Another time we did a postcard and recipe exchange. It really is the little touches that make these Disney cruises so much fun and memorable!

By the way, I just want to thank our FE Goddess for all of her hard work! It isn't easy trying to organize such a thing and to try to make everyone happy.

Sigh.

Susan

The Secret Mickey sounds like a lot of fun:yay: and thank you, but I am no goddess, just somebody who stepped in and wanted to help out:goodvibes. It is getting so close I can taste it, getting super excited:hyper: beth:cloud9:

Susan, great suggestions, will definitely use your suggestions :dance3::banana:

WOW! Lots of catching up to do :)

Last week I did the double digit dance at work (just a little movement of the hips and arms)... some folks thought I was crazy but those that know how BIG a Disney fan I am...joined in .. it was so funny!

Can't wait for this vacation as Wes and I are doing a B2B plus 9 days at WDW. We celebrated 20 years of marriage in May..Can't believe we've been together that long.

Wes' favorite character is Simba and mine is the Original Mouse himself..Mickey.

Can't wait to meet you all on the ship!

Hi Michelle (and it looks like alot of others too ), just wanted to chime in and say hi from Franklin too. Glad to see so many Middle Tenn cruisers on the same ship
Hi Robin! we did the MR last April and I believe that you were originally booked on that also? I've definitely seen you on the boards. Love Franklin.

Since this is my first cruise, I would love to stop and smell the roses and enjoy what the terminal has to offer:dance3:
You will have the best time! This is our 5th Disney Cruise and it is still amazing each time.

Yep, we are mostly all from the Lebanon area, some from the Mt. Juliet area. Last year, we had around 80 people or so, and we were all on the same dining rotation. If you have seen or heard about the new show in Animator's Pallet, you know that Crush from Nemo interacts with people in real time. He "interacted" with our table and someone told him we were from Nashville. He asked how many other people from Nashville were there, and about 25% of the restaurant cheered. Hi eyes got BIG and he asked "Did you leave anyone there?" We all yelled NO!! Anyway, we are thinking of making a Cool Springs run possibly Friday and eating @ Chuy's. Tried the one @ Opry Mills last week and we really liked it. Love the Downtown Franklin area. We live about 5 or 6 blocks from the Lebanon square. Downtown Lebanon has the potential to be a lot like Downtown Franklin if we could get our local community "leaders" (and use that term loosely) off their rear ends. Oops...I broke my own rule...no politics on the Dis Boards!! :lmao: Anyway, maybe Tennessee will have the largest delegation on the ship this cruise, never know!! Look forward to meeting you and your family!
We live in downtown Franklin and love it. Haven't been to Chuy's yet but can't wait to hear if you all liked it.

I hope everybody in the US had a wonderful Fourth of July party:pixiedust:

And let us remember all of those in the armed forces who are serving to keep us Free:thumbsup2

HI, I just joined last week, so I'm behind. I have a few questions.

How many people/families will be participating?

Do we have or get a list of who is participating?

Thank you!!!
Laura

And I still can't send a PM, so I apologize if someone read this and just rolled his eyes at me. :)

I'm trying to figure all this out!

Beth added you to page 2. You can exchange with that group, or both groups. I'm doing both groups, but not everyone is. Click page 1 to see everyone on that page.

Can totally understand that life happens. It is getting so close, that we can close our eyes and image an excursion :dance3::cheer2::cool1:

I'm so excited! I have a cabin number. Knowing me, I've had it the whole time, but didn't know where to find it. :)

Please update my cabin number on the FE exchange. :)

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom Category 08A, #5018

I'm getting very excited. Still gathering stuff for FE's and starting to make my packing list:dance3: Talking more about shore excursions with dh.
