Wow! I just now have time to see what has been going on the past few weeks. Welcome to all of the new cruisers. I was so excited to see the countdown of Fridays. Makes it sound like it's less time. My dd15 has been very sick  the last few weeks and was in Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital for a week with Acute Renal Failure. She has no history of medical problems. For some reason (which us and the pediatric nephrologist have no idea) her kidneys stopped working. She had a kidney biopsy and was on high dose steroids and diuretics. Our nephrologist was so amazing that we barely escaped dialysis despite other physicians saying that she should be on it. She gave her a little extra time for her kidneys to start working and waited until the last minute and we managed to avoid it. What a sigh of relief. She is better now and back in school but still weak, on steroids and blood pressure medicine due to the kidneys being injured. It will take about 6 weeks for her kidneys to heal. But they are functioning better and they are able to decrease dosages on steroids and discontinue some meds. She still has a lot of swelling in her legs, feet, face, and abdomen but the physician thinks it is more from the prednisone now as the kidney problems. Anyway, I'm glad to be back in the group. It has been a rough few weeks and the cruise is sounding better each day.:flower3:
How scary, I am playing catch up so hope I will see that she is doing well now.

Thank you! I will let you know about the FE. We participated for the first time on our Dream cruise in Sept. It was just a 3 night cruise, and we spent sooooo much time delivering FE's on that huge ship, that I don't think I'd ever do one again on a short cruise. There just wasn't enough time in 3 nights!
we won't do them on short cruises either

If the Fe Exchange gets too large to where we are spending more than two days , it will be split up so it does not take up too much time (I do not want anybody spending too much of their cruise on delivering FE gifts), money and space in luggage.
good that's what I was hoping to find!

:surfweb: back to my reading

Ok, here you go. Note my Pirates of the Caribbean FE hanging on the door. It has a 2nd life as a mail sorter! If I find a good place for my tree, it just might stay up year round!

That is such a cool tree, I LOVE it! Your wive is a dear!

Thanks and Happy New Year to you as well!

I'm 21 (plus 17!) and would like to participate in the FE exchange. I'm in room 2511.

Jill
cool that would mean I am 23 x 2

Thanks BigRed. What a nice view. I showed my dh and dd12 the picture and said it was a New Year's present from a fellow cruiser. They both were like "Is that our boat? It's not in the water. They're not done with it yet? When will it be finished? You mean it's going to be practically brand new when we sail on it?" LOL. They are on a need-to-know basis.

:welcome: all newcomers and Happy New Year to all:grouphug:

too funny about your kiddos!

Gradysmommy did ours as well! She also made the adorable pillowcase to have autographed by the characters!
DSCF9820.jpg
wow that pillowcase is awesome too!

I have a friend who is cruising with her family that hasn't made it to the thread yet. She has a daughter that is 13 (i think!)...I've told her about the kids meet thread and is interested so I'll be looking forward to the link once it put together.

Jill in CO
I would be that friend, LOL, she is 13 but will be 14 when we cruise. She was just complaining to me today that her thread has been too slow, so get those kids posting over there! LOL.

And now for my disclaimer. I am here apologizing in advance that my son pirate:(17) and daughter princess: (14) will be in the same club and behave like a typical brother and sister. I hope they don't drive anyone else teens CRAZY!
:scared1:

I cannot stress this enough, please please please check your private messages. I have sent several either regarding the FE Exchange or requesting somebody's help. If you do not send me the needed info for the FE Exchange by the Deadline, you will not be included. If you have not provided me with a private email address, you will not receive the most recent FE Exchange List.

If you have expressed a desire to participate in the FE Exchange and have not filled out the form, please do to the following link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?pli=1&formkey=dFJ3cEJhdktRQTE2Ul94M2dSaTZ0TEE6MA#gid=0

Thank you,

I have read in several places where people order sandwiches from room service the night before to take on excursions so they don't have to come back to the ship to eat. Otherwise, you can come & go from the ship at your leisure.
this is a bad idea going into any foreign country, in fact even on the Alaska cruise we were warned not too. So just to give everyone a heads up.

When we are at port how does getting lunch work? Do we eat at a place while we are exploring? Is there an option to go back on the ship? Our youngest is a picky eater!!
We like to try "local" places if we can, figure if the kids don't like what they have there is plenty of food back onboard for them.

Hi Jill

It's good to know I am not the only solo cruiser. I didnt know it was possible to link up in advance for dinner, that's a good idea. Have u done Palo on your own?

looking forward to meeting everyone x

you will have made so many friends from this thread you will not feel "solo"

HELLO EVERYONE!!!:wave2:

My family and I will be joining you :cool1:
This will be our 5th Disney cruise (the other 4 were on the the magic) and we will be staying on board for a 6th, the oct 13th western cruise, doing a back to back!
My oldest turnes 18 Nov 1st so this is his last chance to be part of the teens:sad1: I'm a little worried about missing that much school since one of mine takes collage classes and one is going to be a freshman in high school, not to mention my husband teaches at the collage here....oh well anything is worth if for a disney cruise!!!

So there's Me ill be 34, My DH will be 38, My oldest DS will be weeks from 18 so 17, my DD will be 14, my youngest DS wil be 9, and our foster son (hopefully our son by then) will be 14 months...I'm also bringing my friend who will be 29 ( I think) to help me with the baby... He has medical needs. So thats us... super excited its gona take me awhile to get caught up on the threads but ill start tonight.
oh my DS will be 17 (we needed to get him into the Vybe!) and DD is 14. I know my DD is posting over on the kids thread (feisgirl) but DS is not so much of a "Diser" so to speak. LOL! All his boards involve Star Wars, computers, Star Trek, gaming, robots, you get the idea!

I don't know if I can call myself a scrapbooker anymore. I haven't scrapbooked in over a year. I just can't find the time anymore but have tons of disney scrapbooking stuff that I bought for WDW and DCL.
I love scrapbooking but I am so hopelessly far behind it's ridiculous. I keep thinking I should go digital but haven't quite made the jump.

we are on deck 7! 7690 to be exact.

Hi Beth and all,
just wondering if you have any idea how you will be dividing up the groups for the FEE? Just maybe some idea of how many will be in our group would be helpful this far out. You may already have a plan and can just tell me to bud out but on a couple of cruises I did lately they capped each group at 15-20 cabins, and then as more people joined, just created new groups. There was a group for the "last minute joiners" too. That way people that craft their gifts and personalize them, are not getting last minute additions. And if people wanted to they could join more than one FE group.

So just my two cents, I love making FEE gifts, and am excited!

I have some ideas floating around in my head, Minniemickeymelanie has also been very helpful too with ideas on splitting up the FEE. I am probably within the next month on they way I am want to go with it. Like Minniemickeymenlanie's idea to group the families with kids the same age together and having the adults traveling without children to exchange. Any idea is a good one, and I welcome all the help, since this is my first time to and FE and my first cruise ever.:cool1:

Please don't segregate those of us without kids from the list with kids. I enjoy putting together kid's gifts. :)

I think I will do a survey this week asking everybody participating in the FE Exchange for their opinions. I think I will offer some scenarios and see which one is the most popular.

I also think if people want to do extra they can, but that will be up to each stateroom on what they want to do above and beyond the standard FE Exchange.

I will do some research tomorrow and try to come back tomorrow with some ideas.

Thanks,

Beth
