Sailing the Ocean Blue...October 6, 2012 Eastern Fantasy

Has anyone found out which night will be formal night or pirates night? What day at sea is the character breakfast? What about the dining rotation possibilities? Please share if you know? Thanks

What I found on some navigators from an Eastern on the Fantasy is that formal night will be Sunday night, Pirates night will be Tuesday night and Semi Formal will be Thursday night.

As always your mileage may vary but that is probably fairly close, no idea on the rotations yet.

Rotations for the eastern itinerary are

1231231
2312312
3123123

There is no character breakfast on the fantasy due to the size of the dining rooms.

Beth,
I am so sorry that you are feeling this way. You are doing a great job. And as there may be a couple of things that I don't agree with 100%, I am keeping that to myself and "getting over it". You all know the saying, "If you don't like it, do it yourself" and I'm certainly not going to complain. I have never participated in a FE. I think you are doing a great job Beth and everyone should be happy that you stepped up to the plate and took it over. No one else did. You can't please everyone. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. If people don't like the way you're doing it, they can get out or start their own FE. Anyway.....
This is what I am doing: I am giving a gift to everyone in the stateroom. It is all about surprises (for everyone). I want to include everyone in that room with their own special prize. After all, it's supposed to be like Christmas. That's why I am personalizing some of mine. Some people may think some of my surprises are cheesey but I don't. The men were a little difficult at first but I just thought, WHAT would my dh like? That's what I went with. I asked dd16 what she would like. That's what I did for the older girls. dd12 same thing. I have lurked on the kid's thread and noted what their interests are to personalize their gifts. Mine are not expensive gifts or large gifts but I think they are nice and I would want one. This is a special thing because as far as I know the other ships don't do this. I'm excited about getting them together. There are all kinds of neat ideas on the FE gifts thread and I have made some up myself. I'm just trying to think of other people and what they might like. I'm putting thought into it because I don't want it to be junk and thrown away but it's not going to be expensive either. I still agree with the small kids. I think they should have a little something. But, ultimately it's everyone's individual decision and they should do what they want to do. So, there's my plan...:flower3: I read on another thread where some people in the FE exchange weren't agreeing on things and some were going to break away and start their own FE. I hope that doesn't happen to us:sad1:

Hi Everyone ...

TaTaForNow1968 (Beth) :wave2: ... DW and I appreciate all the hard work you've put into maintaining the FE exchange for Sailing the Ocean Blue - THANKS!

Like you, this will be our first experience with the FE exchange process (well technically, it will be our 2nd as the 1st will be the Sept 29th Western Itinerary cruise just b4 this cruise ... we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary on the first cruise ... and my significant milestone  birthday on this cruise). So I was absolutely clueless as to the etiquette regarding this whole process; type of FE gifts, what FE were and how to make one (or NOT - we are ordering ours as we are definitely not crafty people) ... and so forth. From what I can gather, like you, it is usually a small surprise for each person in the stateroom ...

However, we understand that going on a Disney cruise is not exactly inexpensive and with the current financial environment in this world it can be certainly hard to make ends meet. Like Tracy (Georgia3), we are of the belief that it is the thought that counts :flower3: ... so for those out there, please do not feel precluded from participating in this wonderful activity if the pressure of providing a gift for each person is too difficult ...

I keep forgetting that Disney cruises will be different than other cruises as the ratio of families onboard will certainly be in the majority.

So I took a closer look at the FE list and had to go back through some of the stuff I already had set aside earlier this year. So far, I found that there was only one or two cabins from both cruises that we had gotten a single gift ... both were couples only ... and are celebrating an Anniversary. Still have a ton of work to do though :stir: as I hadn't done anything for the past few months

For the families, DW and I definitely got little surprises for each individual child ... if it was a couple or for parents though, we may look at possibly a gift for their house or something they could both share ... as it is harder to gauge what adults do or do not like as opposed to kids and teenagers!

Anyways I tend to ramble but want to reassure you Beth, that we certainly understand the pressures of what it is like to manage a large group :crowded: ... and that overall your responsibility is to the group and to the task at hand. What is that old adage ... you can't please everyone all the time ...

So let's go have some fun ... and speaking of fun ... MickeyMinnieMelanie I didn't realize you are in the smaller group so you can count DW and I in as a participant in your cross-group exchange :wave2:

"Yes, Piglet?"

You're doing fine Beth, don't sweat it. All you should be worried about is keeping the list, and you are doing a great job of that. You can't and shouldn't try be concerned about who gives what to who. That is totally beyond your control. You're doing great! Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

OK, I feel like an idiot now:confused3 I didn't know it was on the new ship. I thought it was somewhere in a park with a waterfall. You can tell I have not been to the adult areas. I've got some researching to do. I will definitely check it out and see ya there. We always stay around the family pools. I told dh that I wanted to see some of the adult stuff this time. DD16 will be at the teen's pool and dd12 (well, who knows where she will be, not there though).

Don't feel bad.... I was about to Google it, till Allen posted :dance3:

Okay, just so I have this clear. We are doing one gift per person in cabin? Or is it up to us? The kids and even the women are easy enough but the man in the cabin is very difficult to come up with something!!! What about if the kids each get something and then for the couple they get a gift together/family gift. After all this is about the kids!!

It is up to you, what ever you feel comfortable with.
