Hello, just curious since they seem to have open houses for everything else on Day 1 of cruises, does the same go for the adult areas? Could a family go to the top deck of Adult area in front of ship to watch sail away? No biggie , just would be a nice option to avoid the crowds if we arent in the mood for the mosh pit :)

I've never seen that. I believe the adult only areas are always adults only. Not sure what ship you are on, but on the classic ships, deck 10 is an easy place to view the party below without being in the middle of it.

I spent the sail away party last month on the dream in the adult pool section, so I could sit on the loungers, watch the land go by & still hear the music. There was a family that came to the area and was asked to leave by a CM. I wouldn't try adult areas with kids, it puts the CMs and other adults in uncomfortable positions.

From our experience, you can basically go anywhere before the safety drill. After that, the age restrictions seem to be enforced.

on our last cruise there was as cm posted at the bottom of the stairs leading to the top deck who was stopping anyone who was not an adult and turning them away. one parent said they just wanted to let the children see the sail away from the front of the ship but the cm still said no. this was on the fantasy.
it is kind of surprising as it is a great place to see the sail away but rules are rules and we all know with some people its give an inch and they take a mile.

We have seen this as well on the Fantasy.

As far as I know, the adults-only areas are adults only at all times so you can't bring children in to watch you sail away. But once the party is over, people tend to drift away and I've always seen lots of room at the railing to see watch the ship pull out of the harbour without too much trouble.

I took a picture of a sign at the stairs for the upper deck of the Dream that said it was adults only including during sail away. I tried to post the picture but it wouldn't load for some reason.

Is the picture size smaller than 1MB?

They enforce age the adults only area from the time boarding starts. We were trying to enjoy a relaxing lunch in the Quiet Cove area when a very obnoxious father and his family arrived. The CM in the area very quickly and very nicely explained that this was an adults only area and that only guests 18 or over were allowed to stay in the area. It took a lot to move this man along (he screamed quite a bit about how much money he paid for a cruise and his kids could go wherever they wanted). Just as soon as this family moved, another woman with a crying baby settled in the area. Again the CM tried to politely move her along -- she feigned not understanding because she only spoke Spanish. Didn't work well since the cast member explained the rules in Spanish to her. Still took 20 minutes to get her out of the adult only area. The cast member was very apologetic to us -- we explained it wasn't necessary to apologize but we appreciated what he had to go through to keep adult areas kid free. He said they had to start from the get-go because if they let people use the adult pool area at the start, they had a hard time keeping them out later.

Just like those folks at the parks who just sit in the middle of the row and make others walk over them! So frustrating that some people think they are entitled to break rules but everyone else should follow them. The CMs are so patient to deal with that repeatedly. Really nice to hear that you expressed your appreciation for his efforts - I bet they don't hear that often enough. I'm glad they enforce that policy immediately though, otherwise I'm sure it would get out of hand very quickly. I've never seen that happen when I've sailed, so their efforts must be working!

We have never tried to sit at Quiet Cove with the kids, but we were all invited for a tour of the spa the first afternoon on both the Magic & Fantasy.
