Safety question ?

That is what we are talking about doing. There are two ways to go and I think if we can avoid dc and Baltimore we will be ok. I saw that they did a n event in Virginia beach in the spring that is what made me ask this question.

Going through DC and Baltimore wouldn't make sense under any circumstances. It would add a lot of time to the trip and about 100 miles.

There have been events all over the country because of all of this there was an event in western new York last night

We have one scheduled for tomorrow here in Cincy. We have had many of them over the past year due to Sam Dubose. (A case sadly similar to Philandro Castile that occurred here.)

All of them have been pretty peaceful. Maybe a few arrests but nothing dangerous.

When we did it on mapquest it had us going through dc and it was a little over 8 hours to get there

Maybe just stay home.
I think this may be the best advice yet. I don't think this particular travel softball team is right for this family. They go to the only tournaments in any sport that require 10 year olds to room together without parents and/or adults in the room and they have to travel to dangerous parts of the country.

I would be looking for another team.

Good gravy people.

She's traveling and these are indeed restless times. A little forethought is nothing to be getting so snippy about! She's not saying anything that could be at ALL construed as racist, yet all the bashing/make big fun of her question is, well, a little over the top, isn't it?

When my son got married last year we made sure he had contact info for my friend who lives semi-close to where his honeymoon was in the event of any events. We even, gasp, spoke to the friends and had a contingency plan in case anything happened.

Once all bases were covered, everyone could relax and all had a good time. Maybe because I'm from NE, but we always like to have a plan, cause ya never know.

The facts I know based on this thread:
She is a teacher.
Her husband is a state police officer.
She is traveling on an interstate does not need to go through any major cities.
She is not in control or responsible for the whole team.
She lives in New York.
She is going to Virginia Beach one of the largest east coast tourist destinations of the summer.
She is adding an hour, a hundred miles and a major city or two to her travel time by choosing her current route.

Adding all of that info up you really can't see how some of us think it is slightly silly to ask on the disboards if it's safe and ok to go to VA Beach?

*mumbles to herself*

One NON rutting moose
Hockey stick

Anyone have a request? I'm not turning around once I get started..
