Safety of visible luggage in the Epcot parking lot

Absolutely. My comment was more along the lines of unlike a mall parking lot, where you may have local criminals going thru the parking lot trying to find something worth grabbing, the Disney Park parking lots you are more likely to run into the opportunistic "oooo! I see something great in this car parked not too far from my own.".

Your comments are reasonable and I wasn't singling you out, there were others that were more concerning. Just thought it's worthwhile to let people know that even in WDW one shouldn't think there aren't thieves around. They are there an normal vigilance people have at home should be practiced in WDW.

On my upcoming trip, my last day, I plan on staying at Epcot most of the day to enjoy the first day of the Food and Wine festival. I have a 4 door pickup truck. All of my luggage that last day will be in the back seat (visible).

How much do I have to worry about break-ins in the Disney/Epcot parking lot? I know there's never a 0% chance, and anything can happen, but how much will I have to worry about this? Any other options?

I wouldn't chance it...You could lose all your personal belongings plus anything you acquired while on your trip. Even though it may take some extra time, maybe you could check your bags with bell services at your hotel and them pick them up after you are done at Epcot.

I feel that you will be fine. I agree about throwing a blanket over it for your own sense of relief, but there really shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Got back this weekend. Had no problems with the luggage in the back seat. It was not high enough to show over the back windows. Nothing valuable was showing (computer BURIED under the seat, along with souvenier bags). All that was showing on top were the suitcases.

Thanks for all the advice. I really understand that the chances are not 0%, and it can happen anywhere, but it made me feel better to hear others do it and have not experienced issues in the past.
