We are going to be at Pop Century in February. It will be the first time we are travelling with passports. My question is... Do you put your passport and airline tickets in the room safe or do you carry them around with you? DH says the safe is there to use and we should put them in the safe because then if they are stolen from the safe it is Disney's responsibility. Just wondering what other people do.

Hi MaryAnnF. We were in the Caribbean Beach Resort last year on the Disney grounds and we used the room's safe. It was great. We placed our passports, trip documentation and our other valuables in the safe. I can't quite remember but I think there were two keys given to us for the safe.

I thought the safes were very good although I don't think Disney would be liable if something was ever stolen from the safe.

We were also just at CBR. The safe did not seem like much and there was one key for us. We put the passports, some cash, and some travellers cheques in it.

The first day we were a little nervous but you get used to it. I also think there was something that said Disney was not liable, but it would be pretty bad for business if break ins were occuring.

Besides I don't know about you but I prefer keeping my passport picture locked up. LOL

Mejaie, I know what you mean about the passport picture. I think that what my DH meant was that if I was carrying the passports and airline tickets in my purse and I lost it or it was stolen then I would feel responsible but if they get stolen out of the safe then we would feel that we had done the responsible thing by using the safe and I wouldn't feel as bad. Does that make sense?

I had a hard time getting used to keeping stuff in the safes, as I was raised with a 'you must keep these things on you at allllll times' attitude. But we've taken to using them sometimes without issue.

I know what you mean about feeling responsible if you lose things Maryann. I felt the same way, especially since I'm usually the one with the bag and I feel like I have to guard it with my life. ::yes::

I always use the safe in my room for my passport, airline ticket, etc.. Remembering the combination though, is another issue. ;) :D

Sure MaryannF I understand. One other thing though and you would have to check, but some hotels have a vault at the registration desk where you can have stuff kept.

I also put everything into the room safe. And then I only have to worry about losing the key. ;)

I also use the room safe too to keep my passport and other valuables. I have on a couple of occasions forgotten to take the key with me :o

When we get to our hotel, the passports, extra credit cards, health cards, traveller's cheques etc. all go into the safe and the key goes on my car key ring. I always carry my keys in my right pocket every day of the year, so I realize very quickly if I've left them behind. The only time I'm apprehensive is when we're all going swimming. I then hide all the keys somewhere in our room. I also have photocopies of my passports and traveller's cheques in my van in case someone does get in and break into the safe.

I'd rather risk leaving them locked up in the room then carrying them around with me from park to park. I think the chances of a burglar choosing your room out of the hundreds to choose from is pretty slim.

I also leave the same photocopies at home here with my Mom. I hope that I never have to make use of the photocopies.

The safes at BCV, CR, and OKW are huge. We also leave one of our cell phones in their as well.
