Safes at POFQ safe?

I was just reading on another thread about thefts from the safes at POFQ. I've never really thought about it, just assumed that as long as the safe was locked and I had the key, that my belongings would be safe. I've always left cell phones, cash, credit card, traveler's checks, Disney Dollars, etc in the safes. Does anyone know if the thievery is still going on or did they catch the person?

I had planned to use my Disney VISA in the next couple of weeks to buy alot of Disney dollars (for the points), then I was just going to put them in daily envelopes and keep them in the safe. Looks like I may be buying traveler checks instead, but they seem like such a pain. Oh well, I guess I could use my CC, but I don't want to have a huge balance to pay off when I get home. I keep a zero balance, so can't prepay it. What does everybody else do?

I've always used the safes at all the resorts (stayed at POFQ twice) and I have never had a problem.

We have stayed twice at PO, 3 times at CBR and this summer at SOG and have never had a problem using the safes. In fact, the safe at SOG was computerized where you punch in a code you choose to get in, though Im sure the desk must have keys, but I should think housekeeping, etc would not have access to that. We kept video camera, cash in daily envelopes, credit cards, etc in the safe and all was well.

I just stayed there a few weeks ago and we used the safe with no problem. I haven't heard about any problems.

I have used the safes @ Pop Century, All Stars Sports and French Quarters and I have never, never had a problem. I have left my Coach purse with cash in the wallet, my wedding ring and my Bulovia watch and have never come back to my room and had anything missing. We actualy forgot our camcorder one day and when we came back it was still there.

I too have never had any problems with the safes in any room I stayed at. I have used the safes at WL, AKL, POFQ and CS with no problems. I am curious where you heard this information. I would like to know more.

I also read the thread on thefts at some of the hotel rooms. I couldn't believe what I was reading. We stayed at POR last year and didn't have any problems. We don't like to use our CC too much so we travel with quite a bit of cash. I just always figured it was "safe" in the room safe. Now I am more freaked out about the whole situation....

We will still use the room safe, but I will just be more cautious about what I actually do leave in the room safe.
