Safe areas of I-89?

Hi everyone, we are planning a possible trip to wdw and will be driving from NH. My plan on the way home is to stop somewhere around 9-10 hours from wdw in NC then somewhere overnight. I was wondering if anyone has any recommended SAFE areas to stop at for an overnight at a hotel. If the are has something interesting to do there it would be a bonus as well! Thanks!
