Safari at night?

Has anyone done the safari at night? I have a 7pm FP, and I just realized in November it will be dark then. How was it? Were there a lot of animals out?

I want to know too, I go twice a year but have never gotten around to trying this even though I keep meaning to. Am I right that they didn't have night safaris until sometime in the last couple of years?

Yes- and we couldn't see much! The sunset lighting effect they have isn't great. We have done it right at sunset and that was very nice. Definitely would not do it at night again.

They began the night time safari's a few years ago. We have done it twice now and while it is neat to go on the ride at dark, we didn't see too much. Some animals are still wandering about, others must have been in hiding as we didn't see as many as we typically see during the day.

I did it once and won't do it again! You cannot see very much. I thought it was boring, and I love it during the day!!

Dusk/sunset is an excellent time to take a safari. Once it's actually dark, not so much.

In our experience it was pretty worthless after dark. Dusk might be cool though.

Chiming in with another vote to skip it at dark. It's a bust. Their attempt to add lighting is a fail, as much as it pains me to say. The simulated sunset lighting it just awful, it's too bright and harsh and casts so many shadows it ruins the effect. Overall it's too dark to see any animals. Most you can see is a blob of a shape off in the distance if you squint just so
The route changes and you cut off the good view of the elephants.
There is a nice area where they have a simulated moonlight that I rather enjoy but by no means is it enough to say the ride is worth going.
Dusk is very nice for sure, though no better than any other daytime ride.
They have modified their animal activities so that the animals are moving around all day so really, anytime can be a good time to go. You never know when you'll encounter a truck out putting out feed or a keeper calling in a group of animals or releasing another group.

Wanted to try last trip, but we were never at AK when it got dark, guess we didn't miss out much

If it's around sunset and the sun is still partially out, you'll have a good safari

If the sun is completely gone and it's dark then it's not worth it. The faux sunset on the savanna is cool looking, but that's about it. It's dark so you can see more than a little ways past the truck, and you'll likely only be able to see a couple animals, if that

The main draw for a night safari imo is if you slightly want to feel like you're on a haunted hay ride.

I guess I am in the minority, but we took a safari at night and it was really good! We saw more animals than our previous daytime rides and it was fun to be out there after dark.

I've done KS just before close and plan to make it part of my visit this year. We were the last truck to depart and had it all to ourselves! We saw everything! The tour guide even stopped for longer periods explaining all sorts of cool stuff.
