Safari and the creaky bridge

Sometimes it is functioning, sometimes it is broken. There is a stubby looking traffic signal in the woods on the right side of the truck. If it is red or green, then the system is working. If both lights are out, the effect is not functioning. Near the end of Feb the light was off and the bridge did not move.
I'd need to go back to my notes, but you can also tell by whether the light is blinking or solid. There was a way to tell what the bridge will do.

These trucks are running on a timetable. A lot of the time if the trucks are behind they will just rush over the bridge and not let the effect take place because they want to try to keep the time table. But that being said I have heard that this bridge also has mechanical issues all the time and is not working a lot of the time. From what I have heard they are working on it all the time.

I was reading a thread on Reddit where people were asked to give out secrets they knew from CMs that worked at WDW - and someone posted this response: "I briefly trained for Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney World. At one point on the ride, you go over a bridge with crocodiles underneath. As I was riding with no one in the truck other than my trainer, she felt free to tell me that if anyone were to stand up and fall into the crocodile pit, I was to drive away immediately so that others wouldn't have to see the carnage or try to rescue the person. The crocodiles are apparently fed from that bridge and anything that drops from there is food to them, and they are surprisingly fast." https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/..._who_have_worked_at_disney_world_what_behind/

No idea if this is true but I close my eyes every time. :sad2:

This is funny, because I've read comments from people who think those animals are fake!

A bus driver told me that the reason the bridge doesn't work anymore is because it is broken and the only repairman who knows how to fix it is the Yeti. And he no longer works at WDW either.

Really? That's not what I heard at all.

I read a post from someone with a relative who has access to someone who gets updates from the CM newsletter site, and she said that she heard that fixes for the bridge are "coming soon!", and that everyone should check the Disney Park blogs for updates.

I did the college program back in 2005 and a friend of mine from there who hung around and extended his program worked with this guy who used to work at the safari and he said that they aren't fixing it because they are going to be changing the ride to Olaf's Summer Adventure soon and things like the bridge and the animals are all going to be going away to make room for trolls, reindeer, and Marshmallow.

Sounds like this is some legit intel. I have to yell at my relative for misleading me!

We went this past week and we had the bridge effect but I of course loved seeing the animals but wasn't pleased at all with our CM guide. At first we couldn't hear him then he was forgetting things... He actually said 'I can't remember how big hippos can get' I thought that was a little strange. But we did get some pretty amazing pics. So it wasn't bad.

And, I heard that the coming changes were going to be magical and memorable.

Yes, and I heard that the new experience will be a special ticketed event limited to a select number of guests (regular park admission ticket also required).

Standing only.
No seats.

(That's gonna be one -sHaKy- experience!)

I always look to the right just before the bridge for that short traffic signal. If the light is green I know the bridge will do the full shake and shift. If it is red we will just rattle on over it.
