Susan and I arrived back in Buffalo yesterday afternoon, after a wonderful Disney vacation, about a 1/2 hour late because of strong head winds. We had a very funny flight attendant who kept us all entertained with her humour and a cute song, thanking us for flying SW, to the tune of Zip A Dee Do Da. On the way down we arrived early, we think the pilot had the "pedal to the metal"! Arranging for a Town Car was certainly a nice treat! Oh, and we breezed through the border at Fort Erie both ways.

Disney was very busy but with a little planning we were able to do just about everything we wanted. At the end of the day the crowds leaving MK were phenomenal so we sat and watched the lights change on the Castle (saw the Kiss Goodnight twice) and snapped picture after picture. I think we got a "few" good ones! ;) One evening we walked over to the Contemporary and caught the bus to DTD and transferred to the POP bus. Our timing was perfect and we didn't have to wait at all.

We also enjoyed sampling foods at the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT and went on a shopping spree after Fiesta Margaritas at Mexico! :p We had Margaritas another day too, but kept out of the shops that time! ;) We also popped in to AK and MGM for a few attractions.

The Christmas decorations are starting to go up in the resorts and that was nice to see again. We had hoped that the Grand Floridian's would also be up but they were still in the process of putting up the framework for the gingerbread house when we stopped by on our last day.

We ate at Trail's End Buffeteria, GF Afternoon Tea, Rainforest Café at DTD, Beaches & Cream (no, not for a Kitchen Sink ;) ), Kona Café for Tonga Toast, POFQ food court (took the boat from DTD, love the cruise along the Sassagoula River), Mara food court at AKL for Zebra Domes dessert, Columbia Harbour House and the POP food court. For our last day, we had a late lunch in the Castle and Cinderella was there in her throne room, where we got lots of pictures.

We met some really nice people along our travels each day and even a DISer, dmensing, standing in front of us at BTMRR. I noticed a lime green Mickey shape hanging from his backpack and tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if mine meant anything to him. We had a good chuckle and a quick chat before getting on the ride. We tried to meet up with pjpoohbear one morning at the POP food court but it was so busy, we missed each other. We did speak by phone for a few minutes, beforehand, though. We also met a couple of women from Long Island, also staying at POP, who teamed up with us for our last couple of days and they were glad of our "Disney expertise". They had a rental car so we were able to avoid some of the crowds.

We had beautiful weather, not a drop of rain. Our first day was the last of the hot, muggy weather so we were glad about that. It got cool at night, especially near the water but it was a shock to come out of Buffalo Airport into the real cold, when we arrived home.

I'm still unpacking and that's all I can think of right now. We were on the go everyday day and hardly spent any time in our room at all. We'll post some pictures shortly but will be glad to answer any questions in the mean time.

I can't believe it's all over again. :sad1:

Glad to hear that the weather held up!

I get to pick up my pics tonight!

Can't wait to see your pics!

So what did you guys buy?

We want all the details!

Isn't it fun meeting up with fellow Dis'ers!

Welcome home!! :sunny:

Sounds like you two had an awesome trip!! :Pinkbounc

Went on a wild shopping spree after trying the margaritas, eh? :smooth: Alright!! :teeth:

Don't be too sad about being back home again, Julie. I'm willing to bet that your next trip won't be that far off.
;) :p :D

Welcome home!

Please tell us about your shopping!

So when are you planning on going back? :D

Holy cow that went fast. Sounds like an action packed vacation. Can't wait to see some pics.

Those "girls only" trips sound like fun.

Welcome back Julie...looking forward to seeing your pictures...we'll have to try the margaritas next time we're there...sounds like they 'enhance' the disney experience :earseek: :hyper: lol

Welcome back Julie :wave2: Are the fiesta margaritas the multicoloured ones? I had a couple of those ... they're really good  Can't wait to see your pictures!

...time to plan again!!

So glad you girls had fun! Tonga toast in on our must try list this year::yes::

:sunny:

Welcome home, Julie and Susan. That just went by way too fast, but hopefully it didn't go by that fast for you! Can't wait to see pics. Did you have AP's or parkhoppers? If they were AP's, let us know the expiry date and we'll have a pool as to when we all think you are going to "just happen" to go back for another trip. :teeth:

Was that sunshine from today a result of you opening up your suitcases ... thanks for bringing it back with you :)

Welcome back and What IS tonga toast??? Heard about this being a must do a few times (did try the dole whips and loved em!!)

Welcome home

Looks like you had a super trip.

I kept an eye out for you to see if we cross paths at POP. I was in building 1 of the 50's section.

Gosh, it's chilly back here at home! :(

Thanks for the welcome back, everyone! :)

LOL Canadave, yes, I'd have to say that those Margaritas definitely enhanced our Disney experience. :p ;) We had the "fiesta" or multiflavoured ones, Vicky. YUM!

We headed into an area beside Innoventions where there were booths set up for various artists, etc., specially for the F & W Festival. We both bought some really nice signed, matted prints of the Castle, Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life and Susan also bought one of DCL. The artist is still working on one for MGM, which I guess we will have to get through mail order or at another "event". We also bought watches that we had been eyeing on this and past trips. Susan did end up returning hers because the watch face was so reflective that it was hard to read. I didn't have an excuse to return mine, so was stuck with it. LOL Really though, I love it!

The rest of the trip we picked up a few pins, scrapbooking supplies, and split a package of 6 Mickey christmas tree ornaments. I also bought a Mickey shaped christmas door hanger and Susan bought a few items for christmas presents.

Mary Liz, I had a 5 day PH while Susan had an AP. Yes, I'm kicking myself now for not getting an AP for our July trip but I never expected to be going back within a year. And yes, I've said that many times before. ;) She'll get to use hers again in March but unless we win the lottery I don't foresee any more trips before the expiry date in July.

BitsnBearsMom and mbb, Tonga Toast, served at breakfast at the Kona Café in the Poly, consists of a thick slice of sour dough bread, stuffed with bananas, lightly fried in oil and covered with cinnamon/sugar. It's quite filling but very tasty. I prefer it plain because it's so sweet but you can drizzle syrop over top, if you want. They serve it with a wedge of pineapple and choice of bacon, sausage or ham. When we post some pics, I'll be sure to add one so you can see what it looks like.

Mike, we kept an eye out for you and also pjpoohbear but we didn't spend much time at POP plus it was very busy. Did you go to the meet at EPCOT? We thought about going but ended up changing our plans for that day.

Each night we dumped our pics onto Susan's laptop so when she gets a chance, she'll post a few on the boards and send me cds of them, which I'll bring to future meets.

TimNDansMom-

Noticed that you flew from Buffalo. How was that? And if you don't mind me asking did you get a good fare? And what times did you fly in and out?

We are a family of 6 and with the taxes flying out of Canada is getting out of hand! So I had looked into Buffalo or Detroit.

Just wondering if you had any useful insight.

Thanks
