My evening is not empty but you called me out on something that you were wrong about....I was merely making a suggestion that perhaps if this site really cared about him that they create a seperate forum for him for homage, whats wrong with that....a central location where we can all get together rather than it being spread out everywhere....

No, most people don't read multiple boards. I read this one and the main Universal one, for example. People are posting where they feel comfortable, where they know the other posters -- something that has been pointed out by more than one poster but you've chosen to ignore it.

So... the only thing running rampant here is you.

Again, if you think you have a case, make it to the mods. For someone who doesn't want to discuss this, you're spending A LOT of time discussing it.

Someone just died. And judging by the threads that have been posted a NUMBER of people happen to care about that fact.

Can you just ignore it and leave it alone? Does every thread have to turn into an argument?

OMG His death was only just announced in the last few hours. Just click the back button and go look at threads that you ARE interested in. Instead of polluting a thread that is meant to remember a man with Disney ties who just passed away of a very serious disease.

Each forum has it's own core group of people who regularly post. There is ONE thread here about this topic.
Why don't you start a movement? Go to message boards all over the Internet and get everyone to post their thoughts on Mr. Jobs to one central location that you can create?
As for me, I'd like to be able to comment on the passing of an incredibly important American right here on the forum that I frequent most...where I know all the regulars.
Again....this forum only has one thread about this...it is not keeping anyone from planning their trips....well, except you....but that's because you're obsessed with being right about this. It's more important to you than this man's death.

Back on topic, there's a great anecdote in the new book about ESPN on Steve Jobs at his first Disney board meeting -- which happened to be at WDW in Orlando.

The head of ESPN introduced himself to Jobs -- this was before the iPhone, when ESPN had this awful ESPN The Phone device.

"I am George Bodenheimer," he said. "I run ESPN."

Jobs' only response: "Your phone is the dumbest (CENSORED) idea I have ever heard."

These boards are such an amazing place because of all of the people who contribute to them. In the last 6 months, you have only made 10 posts, and 5 of them have been complaining about this thread.

If you want to make this board more helpful/useful, you can start with the content of your own contributions

I've had an I Phone for years, but until two weeks ago, I used a pc at home. Well, my CPU was finally fried and I was tired of always worrying about viruses and incompatible software...went to the apple store and got an I Mac....and DH got me an I Pad (which I am using right now!). The difference in quality is remarkable.
I hope his company is being left in good hands - it's going to be very hard to fill his shoes!

Please, friends, let's remember Steve Jobs here, and stop responding to people who are trying to distract. Just ignore them.

One PP mentioned Jobs was an important man of "our generation", but I have known his Apple products since early '80s. That's one or two generations earlier. I started using a Mac for work in 1988, in the printing industry. Our plant literally went from old timers using Linotypes, to us youngsters doing full page layouts on our computers. The old timers couldn't catch on, and they all retired. So many times I thought to myself, 'I can't believe someone is paying me to have this much fun!' It was all about the Macs.

I have a Mac 512k in my basement. The iconic one, like on Seinfeld, with all the signatures inside of the case. I just know it still works if I crank it up.

I remember my elementary school computer lab was all Apple (early 90s) and how wonderful free days were when we got to play Oregon Trail those were the days!

Steve Jobs is relevant to Disney in a lot of ways. May he rest in peace.

Anyone (except a mod) who spends any time worrying about whether a thread is "off topic" needs to seriously re-evaluate their priorities, in my opinion. Those who post multiple complaints in a thread about someone dying of cancer....I can't even imagine how you get to be that person.

My favorite Steve Jobs quotation is "Why join the navy if you can be a pirate?" Yo ho. RIP.

This is also directly relevant to Disney parks: Jobs owned the majority of Pixar stock -- 50.1 percent.

He could have made the deal the sell the company to Disney himself, on his own, if he had wanted to... but he didn't. He withheld 10 percent of his shares during the vote for the acquisition to let the rest of the shareholders -- many of them Pixar employees, by the way -- have a say.

Sure, he just needed 10 percent of the remaining 49.9 percent to vote his way so it was largely a symbolic gesture. But I thought it was a nice one nonetheless... and of course the acquisition not only changed the face of both companies, but also continues to play a huge role in the parks today.

There wouldn't be a Pixar Place without the Pixar purchase!

I've always respected him for his leadership style- and I respect him even more after reading that.

I know.. thanks for the warning.. seems many here feel that it is ok to do what ever they want, where ever they want.. Jobs has nothing to do what so ever with this board.. no matter how much they try to sell their thoughts.. Oh, here's one.. maybe we can use the I-pad to tell us what the wait time is for Space Mt? Yes, may he rest in peace, but this thread doesn't belong on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board
