I am so sad...I had to cancel our trip for financial reasons. This will be only the 2nd year in the last 20 that we have not been to WDW. It's just about killing me :sad1: And we were going to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.

We had a 1 bdrm standard view at BWV for 10/17 - 10/23. Maybe someone's waitlist will come through.

Guess I better go remove my ticker.

I'm so sorry. My hubby got laid off 2 days before our Disney Cruise and we spent a very long evening on the phone with Disney. In the end we decided to go since we couldn't get the money back and kept it a secret from the kids till we got home. Thinking about the money we were spending kept us awake most nights.

Good luck and God Bless.

So sorry to hear that! I sort of know what it feels like as my 2 week long trip got cancelled this past year due to a combination of financial reasons AND my fiance going to school....I was devastated for months - I have a really hard time getting through a year without my WDW fix...

Although lucky for me my situation changed...

My mom decided to take me on a mother daughter DCL cruise as we have said for years we were going to do one and had never gotten around to it...and then soon after that my fiance got told he had a week off of school that just so happened to fall during free dining so we managed to pull that off as well....I think Tinkerbell must have came around and sprinkled me with Pixie Dust this year.

I hope things look up for you - it's so hard when you plan and hope for something and it falls through!

I'm so sorry to hear that - I know it had to be a tough decision for you. Good luck and keep your chin up!

I'm so sorry that you had to cancel your trip. That must have been an agonizing decision. I hope that things turn around for you and your family soon.

I'm right there with you. The plant that DH worked for shut down this year so he has been laid off. We had to cancel a trip to WDW & Vero this spring and we were supposed to be sailing on the Disney Magic next weekend. Now our lives have been turned upside down in our 50's. DH & I have been visiting WDW since 1975 on our Disneymoon. DH is now back in school trying to retrain himself in another field. If all goes well he should be finished in Dec. 2010 and hopefully will find a job. In the meantime, we have decided to use points to visit Vero next spring during his semester break. We'll just to have to lay off the dining out and cook or grill. We plan to use points for studios at WDW for us and our children and grandchildren in Dec. 2010. Hopefully, we will have something to celebrate--a new career!

I am sorry to hear you canceled your trip. Maybe you can take the kids to a Disney on Ice show to give them a little piece of the magic. I am sure your next trip will be even more special.

We had to give up a short trip in March after we had to replace the furnace. A few points were expiring and we thought we'd go to use them, but the cost of the trip didn't justify losing the points since it was so few.

Fortunately, I have a friend who will be using the reservation instead. So even though we aren't going on that trip, at least someone else will be enjoying the points.

pixiedust: Hope things get better for you soon!

I know how you feel. I had to cancel our first trip to Vero next month due to having an unexpected major repair to our SUV. Something had to give...fix the car or go on vacation. Well, the car won. So, I too, had to remove my ticker. I did update to a planned trip in May or June hopefully for Star Wars Weekends, but we don't have an actual reservation yet. You just never know. Hopefully we'll go.

I'm sorry you had to cancel. Just know you're not alone!:sad2:

My husband and I have had a bad year also - I lost my job and he got hit with a 20% reduction in pay. Ouch!

We couldn't afford a WDW vacation this year - but we were able to book last minute reservations at Vero Beach - our first time - we loved it - it was so relaxing. We were able to do the whole trip for $500.00 for 5 days and it would have been even less if we had driven. Maybe, just maybe, you could do something like this. I know as bad as our financial situation is we really needed the break and a chance to regroup.

I'm so sorry you had to cancell your vacation but maybe you could work out something else. I know the 5 days did us a lot of good - we got to relax and clear our heads a little before returning to the stress that our lives have been this past year.

Good luck - I hope things get better for you soon.

Oh - Happy 20th Anniversay - that's a nice milestone.

I am so sorry for you. I hope everything works out. I had to retire early due to health reasons and it has hurt us somewhat. Good luck to you.:grouphug:

Very sorry, here's hoping things turn around for you. We went to Vero instead of WDW this year because we could afford park tickets this time, plus we we cooked most of our meals in the villa. I'm not complaining mind you, things aren't nearly as bad for us right now as others, we've just had a slow year. I pray everyone has a better 2010.

Happy 20th anniversary! Sorry you had to cancel and hope you are planning another trip very soon.

:grouphug: So sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip & to all the others in financial binds. Hang in there! May the economy do a big comeback & may all of you be enjoying your DVC real soon. :flower3:
Happy Anniversary!

Sorry you had to cancel. We also had to cancel a short DVC trip in July when my father died. I'd never had to cancel before and it was only a couple of days before check in, so I had no idea what to expect when we called MS (we were out of town and didn't have any DVC info with us). I'll have to say, MS was very sympathetic and considerate of our circumstances.

So sorry, we also cancelled a trip to the carribean for our 20th last week due to an illness in the family. We ended up going to the local diner for lunch and my wife graciously accepted the present I had purchased for her that I had intended to give her on the beach. But it was not the atmosphere we wanted for our 20th.

I hope you get down there.

I'm so sorry to hear you can to cancel your anniversary trip. I'm going the exact same dates that you were planning, although I have to change resorts 3 times. I couldn't get into the BW for the entire trip.

Sending wishes that your financial situation changes, and you can get back to WDW asap!
