I packed up all my scrap supplies. I'm not getting anything accomplished and the chaos of the room is consuming me. I want to paint the room, make curtains, and change the lighting so I have removed all my stuff. I did keep out the 3 disney albums that are 1/2 finished and I kept out my adhesive and some pens but the rest is doomed to the pit of despair I like to call the basement.

I will be taking pics of the progress of the room and will post when I finish.

thanks for listening to me vent.

yeah but it will still be a dining room.
I want to ditch the furniture but it was DH's grandmas so he wants to keep it. Which would be great in the new house we found but I don't want it in the mean time.

I hope to weed out more too and pitch some stuff. I have way too much stuff!!!

Enjoy the artistic process of creating the new space.

Rebecca

Ok, back it up - what new house you found? I totally missed this one.
Now, back to grandma's furniture - I understand about family treasures, have a few myself. When i seel this house, and I am hoping the housing market is on it's way back within 2 yrs, if none of my daughters want it, out much of it will go. Thing is, I know that many of the things will be treasured by them. Caroline

It's not in Dayton but it's the same house. DH is taking a job in Cincinnati so I suspect we will move there by the end of the next school year. DS12 wants to graduate with his friends then we are out of here.

I like the dining set for a 1950's ranch style house. It's just not me. and the chairs are sooooo uncomfortable! Since the kids are all tall we have a raised table and barstool type seating which is what we use daily.

Thanks for the offer Jenn! I might take you up on that.

Nice house Buffy! I can see that "owners retreat" being used as a scrapbooking room!

YEAH!!! That means you are moving closer to me :) Not that Cinci is close mind you, but much closer than Blink. BTW, love the house.

Hi. Dh asked me last night something else I would like for christmas. I said My scrap/spare room done over, a place just to go, relax and scrap. He said that he would just pack EVERYTHING up and start from scratch. What a job that would be, and if he did it, Next christmas that would still be on my wish list.

You are brave, Buffy! I don't see how I could go without scrapping for the length of time it will take to redo the room.

Re grandma's table, grandma's china, anybody else's anything- i saved everything from everybody for years - and lugged it all over the world. It's gone now. Grandma's table is not grandma. Take a photo of it, and let it go. Being rid of all the old stuff that doesn't fit your lifestyle as it really IS, is very liberating.

but try explaining that to his mother. LOL

She yelled at me for moving things around in the china cabinet to accommodate my Polar bear collection.

Awww! I couldnt imagine not being able to come in here.

I am truely lucky to not have a MIL to deal with. (her and DH havent spoken in about 10 years) My mom is bad enough.

I'd ask her if she wanted the table since it doesnt work for you guys. My grandma gave me 2 boxes of her "good" china. I gave it to my mom. I dont want/need it and she did. It would just sit in the boxes and not get used.

One day when DH is out of the Navy we can have our own house and paint the walls! Im so tired of cheap flat white.

I cant wait to see your new room!

What the HECK is your mil doing, telling you what to do in your own house???? Did you offer to let HER store the furniture at HER house?

Clearly, not only BRAVE but a SAINT! (a label they will *never* pin on me :rolleyes1 )

I'm sorry you're sad about packing things up but I bet you feel relieved to have the mess gone. Just think how motivated you will be to scrap in your new space once you get it all done.

And I agree with LindaBabe. You are a saint for keeping it. I would have already booted it to her house if she wanted it so bad.

Well, at least the buffet served as nice storage for your scrapping stuff.

Sorry you are packing up your stuff. Will it be okay in the basement? I thought that got damp on occasion.

If you need to scrap, feel free to come over to my scrapping room. It's free during the day!

MIL has no room, she lives in an apartment and will be moving into a nursing home as soon as she gets out of the short term care facility.

I hope that when we move DH will let me sell this set to an antique dealer here in CT, because we would make more money on it then we would in Ohio.

yes, the top drawer of the buffet is where office supplies are pens, pencils, paper clips, envelopes etc. the middle drawer houses all my primas, brads, buttons etc, and the bottom drawer has table linens, place mats, and my chargers. The 2 door sides hold school supplies and the other holds light bulbs.

I'm putting the stuff up on shelves in the basement. Since there is white stuff instead of wet stuff, I'm not to concerned with water and dampness. The dehumidifier is plug into the drain pipe for the house so that runs 24/7.

Can you believe all that rain we had the other day, not one drop ended up in the basement?!?

Thanks for the offer for your space, of course I can't even get over long enough to get my coverset let alone do anything else.

Phew..... I knew about the move to Ohio, but the way you worded it, I thought there were newer plans on moving! Hope to see you before then.
As to Grandma's china cabinet, I do have my grandmother's cabinet, but it fits in my home just fine - and I love it! Everyone is different - remember you have 1 daughter, I have 5 and one of them is sure to want it. If it doesn't fit in your home, isn't your style, just don't want it - then that is your decision, not your mil's.
Hey, i have a biggg scrapping room here, and plenty of beds if you want to stay up late (right Linda?)- and it's very quiet here now!!! Just name your date(s). Caroline
