Sad, sad day.......we will have to cancel our boardwalk view 1 bedrooms for the F&W in November. I hope someone from the DIS who may be on the waitlist gets the days that become available.

That being said, how are the crowds during April vacation...we are considering the third week in April when the kids are off from school. Crowd wise is it comparable to Jersey week in November? Is April a hard month to get DVC booked?

We were at WDW last month and it was the worst that we have seen. Wait times at the popular rides were 90-120. Even the Cast Members didn't know what was going on.

Well, the beauty of DVC is that you can always go next year. And it will be that much better having had to skip a year.
We are going in Nov this year, when is Jersey week?

Sorry you have to cancel :sad1: I had to cancel our Easter trip and waited until 32 days out (just in case we could make it work) I wasn't in the best of moods that day

Hope everything is allright and that you can start having fun planning your new trip :flower3:

So sorry that you had to cancel your trip. :(

I am also from MA and we head down every April vacation. It is true that this year seemed one of the most crowded but we still got a lot done - out early to park opening and back by early afternoon. There were LOTS of teens there with bands, cheerleaders and just groups of them. We had no problem with behavior - there were just so many of them!!

We were able to book at OKW no problem. It was our very first DVC stay since buying AKLV last year and we LOVED it!! Stayed in a 2-bedroom.

One strategy I use for April vacation is that we go Sun - Mon (kids miss one day of school) as the airfare is outrageous for that week and I am sure it will be worse next year. We save quite a bit booking it that way - and I book as soon as Jet Blue releases their fares.

I hope that things work out for you!

Jill

I called somewhere between 10 and 10.5 months in advance for BCV for the 3rd week in April this year, and was shut out on the cheaper nights already! I ended up shifting my dates and got in ok. But, for that 3rd week - the rooms were all gone at 11 months for the weekdays.

It was also mobbed in the parks from what I've heard. Now next year Easter is April 12th, so it'll be truly unbearable (much worse than this year) for the 2 weeks surrounding Easter. The only plus is the weather is nice - but it's not a good time in the parks.

It seems that April is getting very popular. We went down on Sun. April 13th this year and I was hoping that it wouldn't be too crowded because Easter was in March. No such luck. On top of that it was very cold (near record lows) so we didn't wear shorts until Thursday when we left for our Wonder cruise. In spite of the cold and the crowds it was a wonderful trip and we had a great time.

That's why I'm going to Vero Beach! Much easier to send DH out to deal with the lounge chair hogging t-shirt wearing Sopranos than deal with crowded parks. :rotfl2:

I just came back from a trip at BWV BW view 2 bdrm. April 19-26th. Weather was absolutely fantastic, so was our room and the resort. The PARKS were absolutely AWFULL!!! I would return to BWV in the last week of April, first week of May in the future. Weather is still nice, but don't have the crowds. If your not going to the parks, by all means go in April!!:goodvibes I would also book day-by-day at 11 mos. BWV booked very early this year.

We enjoyed them so much I don't want to miss them so I've been booking day by day.:thumbsup2

We were at VWL last year in early May, it was great. If I could pick only one time a year to go that would be it.

We were there in early April and it was CRAZY crowded - by far the worst I've ever seen (and based on trip reports - it stayed that way just about all month).
My big shocker was that the tried and true strategy of getting there at rope drop did not seem to help at all. Literally, we saw lines at the big rides (like EE, Test Track and Soarin at 100 mintues plus by 9:10 am and we had to wait 30min-1hour even with our dining ADRs :confused3

But.............. I still made reservations for April 09. :rotfl: The weather was incredible. I'll just know this time to relax and not plan to spend much time in the parks. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Funny, I thought the crowds were moderate but not crazy. My 7 year old and me were there for 10 nights 4/11-24 at Poly then GF.

Of course, with no other adult to assist I was trying to keep my eyes on my son.

The best thing we did was the Pirate Party. For $95 bucks we got to ride all of his favorite rides repeatedly. I would have done it twice just for that but it wasn't offered again during our stay.

When we return on 12/26 for NYE trip I guess I won't feel overwhelmed by the crowds.
