I'm going to WDW soon for my 40th birthday-alone. I want to go Chef Mickey's on the evening of my birthday. Will I look a total saddo sitting alone? :sad2:

NO way! GO and enjoy!

Our last trip DH pooped out on me and I spent 1/2 a day (until 2 AM actually) in Magic Kingdom alone. I had a riot and met all sorts of neat people!

The funniest was on Splash Mountain. I said "one" and the CM gave me this funny look and pointed to the front of the boat. I got in and held on getting ready for my ride. As I passed under the control booth the line of people behind me started to roar! I turned around to see I was the only person in the boat! It was so funny! :rotfl:

Actually it was a bit scarey but fun too! The photo was too funny so of coarse I had to buy it!

Enjoy yourself and don't let what others think bother you! Make sure you get a birthday button from guest services! :)

When is your birthday?
I'll bet you could meet up with some fellow Disers.
We could be quite a "wild and crazy" crowd!!
:cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:   :drinking1

You won't be a saddo sitting alone - in fact, when you get to the check-in podium tell them that your celebrating your birthday. I bet you'll get some extra special treatment and pixie dust!!!! :wizard:

Have fun!!! :teeth:

that would be awesome

if you sit there with an unhappy look on your face maybe, but if you enjoy the meal, and the characters then no way.

No way....
Make sure that you tell your sever that it is your birthday and I'm sure you will get some extra special attention. Go and have a great time!
Welcome to the DIS by the way!:flower:

Go and enjoy!!! You'll have a great time!

If it makes you feel any better, don't forget that WDW is a HUGE convention location. The servers and staff will treat you no differently-- they get solo diners all the time.

Enjoy your 40th! really live it up!

When is your bday,Hobbes? I will be there in late October

I go to CM all the time when I'm at WDW solo. I like the food and the atmosphere and I have a great time with the characters. You'll be fine. And Happy Birthday!

Terri

Thanks everyone-I was afraid of scaring small children by looking like the scary person your parents warned you to stay away from!!LOL :rotfl2:

I will be there from Sept. 30th through Oct. 3rd.
Will you be there during that time?
I see I'll be leaving before your actual birthday (Oct. 5th) but if you get there a couple of days earlier I'd love to say Happy Pre-Birthday!!
BTW, a lot of Disers will be there at the same time as your birthday, maybe you could get together will some of them.

I've been to Walt Disney World by myself many times. Most of the time it has been because I've been in town on business, and I took an extra day or two to go to the parks. However, there were at least two times when I just went down by myself for a dedicated trip there because I wanted to go and there was no one to go with me. I don't mind being alone, but I personally wouldn't do a character meal alone. If that works for you, though, go for it.

That's because, as we DISers know, "What happens in WDW, stays in WDW," as one solo DISer once told me as she danced with Prince Charming in the MK (can you imagine?).

I know how you feel Hobbes! I went to WDW for MY 40th birthday and I was going to go by myself, but then I decided to take my six year old niece with me. If she couldn't have come though, I was going anyway and I was going to have a great time!!!! GO to Chef Mickey's and wear your Birthday Button proudly!!!!!!!!! You think people notice, but they really don't, they are too busy enjoying Disney! -- Think about it....last time you were at Disney, did you see anyone by themself and think "Oh, look at that saddo?"

Have a GREAT birthday!

Hobbes,

If you tend to be a happy kinda person, then you will enjoy the antics at Chef Mickeys and will not come off as being like, or looking like, a saddo. If you are feeling sad and gloomy and appear sad, then perhaps you will look like a saddo. That being said, I think it is awesome that you are able to plan solo trip to WDW and should celebrate your birthday there in your own special way and be happy, and most important enjoy yourself and have an awesome time!!!

Happy Birthday in advance!!!

Lori

I went to Chef Mickey's solo last summer, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! I was so happy that I went. ALL the characters stopped by my table, and most stayed a little longer than normal. At one point, I had Donald, Goofy and Mickey all hanging out at my table and making me laugh. Mickey "signed" to me (since he can't talk) if I was alone, and I obviously responded yes, so he took my camera and made a whole bunch of people take photos of us together. It was awesome. I brought a book with me to read, and honestly, didn't even read it, I had so much fun. Don't hesitate to do it - let them know it's your birthday - I'm sure they will make it one you will never forgot!

My birthday is in 2 weeks (the 4th), and I'm doing a Birthday weekend at Disney by myself--the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Get a birthday button and have a great time. The people at work think I've lost it, but since I moved to Florida, I haven't spend 3 full days in the park for quite sometime. I can't wait. If you see a birthday button and a lime green Mickey--It will be me. So enjoy yourself at Chef Mickey's and have a great birthday at WDW.
Lynn
