Hi there. My family will be at BCV from Dec 11th to the 19th. We're from Canada so I just assumed that the weather will be fine for swimming and that is why I booked that particular resort. The kids are IN LOVE with SAB... and have never been in it. Will the weather co-operate? And... how should I pack for Dec. in Florida? Thanks!

We will be arriving at the BCV just after you leave. We are from the UK so also don't mind the cold too much! I plan on swimming in SAB whilst I am there too. As for clothes I plan on packing layers. I am packing shorts and vest tops. Then cords/cargo trousers and long and short sleaved t-shirts with a few thin jumpers. Then I'm taking my fleece and hat scarf and gloves just in case as I have heard the temps can drop at night.
Have a great trip.

Well I'm sure no matter how cold it is, you'll be there :sunny:

But, just to let you know. FL weather temps are quite fickle in the winter. One day it can be in the 50s and 60s and the next heat up into the 80s or quite the opposite. And sometimes there can be several days of chilliness or quite the opposite, just depends on Mother Nature. December is quite an unpredictble month weatherwise in FL.

Best option for packing, layers...some short sleeves, long sleeves, light jacket, heavy jacket. Long pants or sweats and some shorts. At night you may need the heavier stuff but it really depends...it can be warm at night too.

Now 50s and 60s may feel much warmer to you all then us too ;) ...so it's all relative. Last month one morning it was in the 50s, while dd and I had coats on, there were many people in shorts :teeth:

Keep in mind, that SAB is heated and last December, we swam on some of the colder days. We took sweatshirts and pants to the pool with us and just dried off quickly and ran back to the room.

My boys love SAB too!

SAB keeps shorter hours in the winter and usually closes by 5 or 6 pm, so keep that in mind too.

The hot tubs are nice too!

I've been to Disney in December twice, both times during the first full week of the month. One trip was beautifully warm, temps in the 80's every day. The other trip, well, not so warm - sweats and jackets all the time. So if you keep your fingers crossed, you may be able to swim, but don't be disappointed if the daytime temps are in the 60's. Florida is very fickle.

SAB= Stormalong Bay, i.e.the main pool complex for the Beach Club

As far as the weather, I have been able to swim on both of my January trips- one warm trip and one cold one! So don't worry about it.

Thank you Teberius for that info.....some of the short forms just take me a little longer to figure out....we should have a site perharps called short forms for dummies...:flower: lol......buy the way I love SAB....:cool1: especially the sandy bottom.....3 more days...can't wait...
