Anybody try to make reservations yesterday with S.W. and have issues? DW tried and the online would not accept CC info. She gets on email this AM to find 20+ ticket charges to CC for $400.00+ each reservation. Been on hold with S.W. for 1hr+ so far and can't reach CC company either.

She tried it twenty times:confused3:confused3 I give up after a couple of times.

You should never try it so many times. The system will either fix itself or get fixed and you are left with a situation like this. SW didn't go crazy, your daughters clicking finger did!

;)

I kept getting an error message from SW when I tried to purchase tickets, I would close out Internet Explorer and start again....then I opened Google Chrome...still the same error message. Something that to the effect that said try again or call a SW representative, which I tried to call and got a busy signal for 30+ minutes. I finally got 1 confirmation number from Southwest:cool1:

But when I checked this am, there mutliple charges on my SW Visa :rotfl2:

I'm not stressing....I've had nothing but good luck with SW and Chase SW Visa so I'm sure its going to be cleared up. If not I have a whole lot of SW credit I'm gonna be using :thumbsup2

I saw this posted on the Southwest Facebook page this morning...

Thank you for your excitement in taking advantage of the limited-time offer we shared today in celebration of reaching three million Fans on Facebook. Due to the overwhelming response, we experienced some site performance issues at various times throughout the day. We apologize to our Customers for any inconvenience and are proactively cancelling any duplicate itineraries that may have occurred.

Hopefully they can get your account fixed.

Actually Southwest had a major system failure yesterday due to it not being able to handle the volume stemming from its 50% off sale.

It was all over the news last night that even people who just clicked once were being charged up to 100 times. Many, many people had their accounts wiped out or cc maxed out.

SW issued an apology and is working to cancel duplicate itineraries and refunding money.

Many CC companies did put stops on CC due to suspicious fraud activity.

Some people are going to have some cranky credit ratings for a bit, even if SW 'clears up' their issues.

This is just another reason why I'm never flying SW again. It's being run like a dollar store, and I would never fly in a doller store plane!

Because their system crashed due to a sale? They're not the first ones to have this happen, and they won't be the last. I almost exclusively fly southwest because of their awesome service. I've only had poor service maybe once or twice from all the times that I've flown in over 10 years now. They help those of us out who don't make a terribly large amount of money :)

And OP, I'm sorry that happened. Something similar has happened to me with another company, and it's beyond aggravating. Here's to hoping it'll be fixed very soon!

Only once for each CC.

Wasn't DD it was DW and she only clicked once for each CC.

DW finally got a S.W. person and all problems were resolved.

We have had GREAT SERVICE using S.W. for years and will continue to use them. Great prices and the pilots seem to always put the throttles forward to make up for time lost when there is a delay. On one return trip DW had from El Paso she was on-time to her stop-over in Houston but the plane had an issue so there was a 20 minute delay. Turned out she came into Tampa 5 minutes early. :cool1:

Thank You S.W. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Glad you got everything worked out

This wasn't solely due to increased traffic on the site. Southwest has been having trouble with their online billing system for months. I booked a trip 4 months ago and they billed me three times for the one seat. When I called my credit card company to dispute, they said they had been getting tons of calls for the exact same problem, triple billing seats. It was a known software problem to Southwest then, and it seems to be getting worse.

Latest info from SWA from their facebook page:

Southwest Airlines
Information and update for Customers who recently experienced multiple bookings in error:

The overwhelming response from Customers who took advantage of our August 3 limited time offer launched to celebrate three million Fans on Facebook, created website performance issues at various times during the day. We realize that some Customers were charged more than once for the same reservation and we want to ensure you that we have all hands on deck, actively working to process refunds for any duplicate charges incurred.

Here is a status of those efforts:

First, we want you to know that we are working to identify duplicate bookings and charges and are proactively cancelling those additional reservations, actively processing refunds to the Customer. In order to process the refunds as quickly as possible, we have called in additional staff to support these efforts.

For those Customers who used debit cards and have received overdraft fees as a result of the additional charges, we will process a reimbursement for all overdraft fees that were caused by duplicate charges from Southwest for a single purchase. If you incurred overdraft fees, please fax documentation of those fees via a letter from your bank or a copy of your account showing the fees to 877-506-0154.

Or, you could think of it as pre-paying for future vacations! ;) "Well, honey, we must go again--it is already paid for!" lol

Good. One less person I'm competing against for a good deal ticket.

I live in the PDT zone and tried to book a flight on SWA yesterday per the sale guidelines, using the link in the email they sent that took you directly to their "book a flight" page with the "LUV2LIKE" code already entered by SWA. The site kept saying it didn't recognize the code - so it wouldn't honor the 50% sale rate (even though I was booking on the sale days). Although the code worked during the day, it did not work after 11pm PDT.
I called SWA to find out why - as I really wanted to take advantage of the sale. Although the recorded message said "there is a 31-minute wait" I was on hold for 85 minutes before I finally hung up and went to bed. During the time I was on hold, I tried repeatedly to send SWA an email thru their site, conveying my dilemma. But the page didn't work - wouldn't let me scroll down to complete the form. I was really cornered - their code didn't work on their website; couldn't reach them by phone or email.
I tried calling them several times in the morning but the lines were busy each time and I couldn't even get in the queue.
Just now spoke with an agent who said she was unable to honor yesterday's sale price, despite the obvious limitations caused by SWA's system. I asked 'what happened" and she could offer no answer - but gave me the number of their Cust. Relations Dept. (that only works Mon-Fri).
(sigh)
I've been a loyal SWA customer for years, but was disconcerted by their "oh well - so what - you lose" attitude - and not empowering their sales agents to 'make it right' for the obviously countless folks who couldn't book a flight to take advantage of the sale because their website didn't work.
I have a hunch whoever programmed the sale on their site did not take into account there are time zones beyond TX and probably had it expire at Midnight Central Time Zone.

Guy who writes for the Boston Herald and wrote the Mousejunkies book said he was charged 24 times! :scared:

I guess I was lucky cause I finally purchased my return ticket from orlando yesterday and I had no problems at all. Mary

You can have it, they are the worst US airline I've ever flown, and how they keep those planes in the air is beyond me. For the money they cahrge, they must be cutting corners somewhere.

The A, everyone with a kid or a disability, B, C seating is a nightmare, and they go way out of their way to put families together that don't follow the seating instructions, so that the planes were late taking off, just because some ditzos didn't listen to the instructions. This happened on both of our flights. I would have said 'you snooze, you lose', take another flight'.

Give me assigned seats any day, and not a cattle call to line up under some little space of numbers.

i cant imagine being charged 20 times on a debit card... i think my account would be overdraft at least 10 times...

makes me wonder if paying those merchant fees is worth it or not...

You base all this on two flights? Wow. Overreact much?
