S/O: Well-known/famous movies your haven't seen

I have never watched any Harry Potter movies or Hamilton for a more recent movie.

I haven't seen 141 on that list, some of them I have never heard of so not sure how well known they really are, at least to my generation.

I have never seen Jaws or any of the Lord of the Rings movies.... I am sure there are others I have missed, but that was the first one that came to mind.

I saw Harry Potter mentioned, I had not seen those myself until Covid. I took some time to watch the whole set.

After looking at the list Dan posted I was shocked at how many I haven’t seen.

Some big ones I haven’t seen….
The Lord of the Rings (I’ve been waiting until I read the book and I keep forgetting about it)
Terminator
It’s A Wonderful Life
Alien
Casablanca
and sadly so many more

One day I want to set aside one night a week to watch the best movie for each year.

Way too many to list them all. But I was just talking with a friend and he was shocked that I hadn’t seen any of the James Bond movies.

I've only seen 2-3 Potter films, one Hunger Games, one Fast/Furious, one Despicable Me, and only one Saw film. If you've seen one Saw film, you've pretty much seen every Fast/Furious/Potter film. Ok maybe not.

Haven't seen Titanic either.

Some critic's darlings I haven't seen (and want to see):
Moonlight
Parasite
Licorice Pizza

Old ones I haven't seen but want to see:
Badlands
Night of the Hunter
Of Human Bondage

I don't have access to my Vudu account to check my wish list, but there's many more. I've been catching up with movies focusing on various actors recently, and will continue right after I finish Ozarks.

I've only read The Hobbit and the one and a half Rings books. Books are long, just see the uncut versions of the movies, they pack loads of stuff in!
ALIEN is probably my favorite so I'll boldly advocate for you to see that.

Me too! Just no interest. Not Pulp Fiction either.

I have seen all the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies and a lot of Marvel. I can handle cartoon- like violence but not real life violence. The message of the Harry Potter movies, similarly Lord of the Rings, of good triumphing over evil really resonates with me.

Yeah, that's why I don't like mob movies, nor crime movies, nor Tarantino moves. I often describe them as "bad people doing bad things to each other." I have no interest in that. I can handle a lot of violence as long as it is in a moral context of some kind. There has to be a good guy!

Okay, I did the additional 200. 28 there. So total of 42 out of 250. But only about 1/3 of yours, Nancy. You guys are movie goers. :thumbsup2
The majority of the ones I have seen go back 30 years or more, like Ben-Hur. Well, that one was like 60 years ago.

I haven't seen the Godfather Part 2 or 3. Haven't seen Avatar. Haven't seen most comedies from the last 20 years or so. I've seen 34 of the top 50 and 65 of the top 100 from the IMDB list @Dan Murphy linked.

Checking out IMDB's list, some of these are overrated. Inception is #13? P-shaw. City of God was good but #24?
Requiem for a Dream beat out 2001?!

Whiplash is great, I watched that recently.

There are a lot of Christopher Nolan movies because he has a rabid fanbase that pumps up his rankings. They think anything he does is brilliant. Personally I don't see it.

I once went out with a woman, and a major red flag was that she preferred Interstellar over The Martian. I mean, it's not a deal-breaker, buuuut.... 🤣

Makes sense, Interstellar and The Dark Knight are curiously high on that list. I give Interstellar some credit for the crew making a scientifically accurate computer model of a black hole. But the movie overall, it's not something I keep coming back to.

Yeah, the Prestige too. That list is junk anyway - it's just based on people who care to take the time to rate stuff on IMDB.

It's A Wonderful Life is the main one. There are many movies I haven't seen. I just watched Singing in the Rain for the first time this past year. I have been trying to watch it for 20 years, and I kept falling asleep!
