My favorite was a mix CD of the couples favorite songs, including the ones they had some dances to. It was a nice eclectic mix of oldies, pop, rock, and jazz. There might have even been a country song. I kept it in regular rotation in my car CD player.

What about you?

I've never gotten a "good" one. They're all completely wasted on me. No way am I interested in anything that's etched with somebody else's initials or music I didn't choose or whatever. I usually just leave it on the table. :rolleyes2 If you must, just give me a little mesh bag of Jordan Almonds and call it a day.

None of them stand out or are memorable to me, so I’ll go with a candle. It’s useful and I like to burn them.

After going to many of our friends weddings after college, we opted for a small box of good chocolate as our favor. I still think it’s the way to go. Eat the contents, toss the packaging. Over and done.

The best one I got was from a wedding I didn’t even go to lol

My grandparents had neighbours that they were close to. When their daughter got married my parents were invited. The favour they got was a crystal bell that was given to people to ring when they wanted the bride and groom to kiss. The daughter used to occasionally babysit me so somehow I ended up with the bell.

It’s pretty similar to this

I liked the box of godiva chocolates we got at one and the other that was nice was a bottle of wine that had a label of the bride and groom on it- didn't really care about the label but the wine was good LOL. Another one I liked was every seat had a lottery ticket at it- so that was fun. I hate those rock hard covered almond things they used to give out in the 70's and I don't want anything etched with the bride and grooms name on it- one wedding we went to we got an ornament with the bride and grooms name and date on it- what the heck am I supposed to do with that, I don't want them on my Christmas tree LOL.

a unique handmade fridge magnet. sushi was important to the bride and groom and prominently featured in the buffet so the favors were made to look like a sushi rolls-green colored foil wrapped around latch hook rug strands of yarn (it had to have taken months to make them b/c they were perfect down to every detail with the white strands for the rice, the pink for the salmon, the dark green for cucumber, a single strand of light green and dark brown for the wasabi and soy sauce). it was SO COOL.

I can't think of anything too exciting. Back in the dark ages, we always kept the matchbooks (with the couples name and date on them) that everyone tended to give out. They got used up eventually. I currently have a coffee mug with a phrase and wedding date on it, but I'm honestly afraid to drink out of it... never real sure about cheap mugs and how they were made? So, it's just sitting on my desk with some change in it. lol. I also have a couple coasters with the couples initials on them. They are just sitting around, we don't really use them.
I can't really think of anything that got use or was really unique.

That was discussed here once with the poster saying they were working on their elaborate cookies weeks and weeks in advance. I found that a little off-putting. :crazy2:

Ours won’t be fancy and we obviously haven’t started making them yet.

Beer coozies are good and useful. Candy bags- chocolate or from a buffet.

One wedding had something that was intended for one thing and everyone took as a keepsake because they liked it so well:

Plastic wine glass, two napkins in wedding colors, smaller napkin with bride and groom’s name and wedding date. All napkins folded on the diagonal and place inside the glass with name and date showing. It was intended for use with wine but there were other wine glasses at the bar. Everyone took them to keep. We were on the “clean up crew” after the reception so sort of standing around as everyone left so saw them leaving with them.

I wonder how many people actually kept them after a week or so. Lol.

I got married back in the 70’s when matchbooks and butter mints were popular. We gave both. Nobody in our family smoked, but my dad was still using the matchbooks when we downsized them a few years ago

I still like the mints and Jordan almonds and m&m’s to munch on and not have to bring anything home.

A half-size bottle of wine with the bride's & groom's names and wedding date on the label. Plus the drinking glasses with the same info etched onto them.

That's pretty! I've heard of the tradition but never heard of it as a favor, too.

Lottery tickets would be fun!

Well.. I have gotten a ridiculous sterling silver coffee scoop, wine, those hard as rock almonds, a picture frame, candle, disposable cameras, the list is endless. The only one I enjoyed was the vase of flowers.. each couple was able to take a part of the elaborate and quite beautiful multi vase centerpiece. I happen to purchase flowers for my home rather frequently, so I actually
Enjoyed taking those flowers home.
I suppose I never thought about the out of towners.. maybe there were few??
