We got married on Kentucky derby day, I’m not a fan of “stuff,” so we gave everyone OTB tickets, and there was a box where people could put in their tickets with their name, and we cashed in the winners and sent them cash with the thank you notes.
I tried to think of the best favors and for me it would have to be something I can consume at the reception or shortly thereafter. We did boxes of homemade chocolates for our favors.
I've thrown away a lot of trinkets through the years. Seriously I don't want to hang on to anything with your name and wedding date on it.
I got some homemade peach preserves. I would prefer something that gets used up...edibles, matches, whatever...rather than another tchotchke. I have 3 kids...I'm already overrun with "sentimental" tchotchkes.
Alcohol is the only wedding favor I want. My sister gave out mini bottles of champagne. A couple other weddings gave out small bottles of wine. Anything else I leave on the table (but if it’s alcohol you can bet I’m going around and collecting any that others have chosen to leave!)
I really would rather not get any favors. The ones I consider the best are the food/beverage ones that don't cause clutter. Scented Cancles, Candies, Italian cookies, small bottled wines, yes! I like those favors.
I definitely do NOT want any knick knacks with the bride and grooms name and wedding date on them.
We gave out small bottles of wine when we got married. Most people said they liked them, those that didn't had no problem finding someone else willing to take it home.
I had a friend get married in early December. They gave out beautiful snowflake Christmas ornaments. I still put mine on the tree every year! It didn't have their names or anything personal on it, even if it did I'd probably still hang it up it's so pretty.
My sister recently gave little honey bears, those were super cute!
We gave nothing. We had an open bar. I think everyone left very happy
We have gotten the usual favors over the years...candy almonds, Hershey kisses, small chocolates, etc. The ones that stand out are a small brown bag of candy gummy fishes (the couple liked to fish), lottery tickets along with a lucky penny at each place setting, and the one that I really thought was great was a gourmet chocolate covered apple...it was huge and covered in thick chocolate and lots of nuts, drizzled with caramel (the brides parents made them especially for the guests).
I've never gotten a "good" one. They're all completely wasted on me. No way am I interested in anything that's etched with somebody else's initials or music I didn't choose or whatever. I usually just leave it on the table. If you must, just give me a little mesh bag of Jordan Almonds and call it a day.
Lol. Same here. Their name is etched on the favour most of the time....totally ruins the favour. Not interested. Personally for me, the best ones I have received are chocolates (godiva usually).
I attended a late night Jewish wedding on a Saturday night. (According to Jewish custom, the ceremony can’t be before sundown on the Sabbath.) The reception went well into the wee hours, and as guests were leaving, each was given a bag of fresh bagels and the Sunday NY Times. Thought that was a nice touch.
