S.o.l? Wdw rehire

Hello All,

I was part of the WDW CP Spring 2009 program and I was fired. I'm going to be totally honest and hopefully people won't diss me for what I did but I took a roll from the kitchen I was working in to eat for lunch and I got caught with it and was pretty much booted out within 3 days of that happening. I lied about the situation for the fear of losing my internship which would then cause me to graduate a year late from my college (which happened). After I was termed I went to go visit my then boyfriend who I had met at the CP program a few months later and was caught sleeping in my boyfriends room in Vista Way after a night of VERY heavy drinking. (yes I knew/know the rules about no overnight visitors but I was so drunk that night I didn't even know my name and my hotel was across town...not that its any excuse)

Basically I was just wondering with those 2 offences am I just S.O.L when it comes to being rehired... or is there hope?

I tried to reapply for the CP program July of last year and they sent me the rehire paperwork which I quickly filled out and then returned. Then the wait started and after a month I called the CP offices and they said that I had an "undetermined rehire status" and that once the committee had made up their mind they would let me know. After 3 weeks I called back they said my paperwork was stuck in the rehire process and to reapply for the next CP block but by that time I had already graduated from school.
I have gotten to the point where I am about to fly to Orlando to plee my case just for a seasonal position seeing now I am a lot wiser and a lot smarter about my life choices seeing that my stupid choices caused me to lose the best job I have ever had and almost ruined me academically.

Idk... maybe I don't deserve to work for WDW....

I'm just wondering....

transgressions and I would let Disney go as they are not going to rehire you. I would learn from this and move on. Capricious youth is what I call this!! and who at your age hasn't done stupid stuff!! it is only stupid if you continue to do it and not learn from it. I find it hard to believe that Disney was the best job you ever had, you have the rest of your life to work and you will!

Honestly, I would chalk up what happened to you as a learning experience and move on to another company. I would imagine your chances of rehire are very, very slim.

We have all been there and done that. My dad used to say your generation did not invent "sex, drugs and rock and roll", it has been around for a long time we just called it different things!! My Dad... he was right and now at 47 years old, I see the wisdom is his pithy little sayings. In the words of Oscar Wilde " I am not young enough to know everything". Good luck to you and congratulations on graduating One more thing! stop beating yourself up over this!! you have plenty of career opportunities in the future to do this over!

Their big hangup is that you stole from the Company. That will be something very hard, if not impossible, to overcome.

If I had to make a bet I would say No sorry but the Disney Company (not just WDW) will be out for your future. Flying down to Orlando and trying to plea your case will only make things worst. You have to learn a lesson here and now move on. Best of Luck.

I'd say you have no chance of Disney taking you back. Most companies would be the same. Like many other posters have said, you should learn from that experience and change your ways if you hope to keep any job in the future.

While I thank all of you for your responses to my post I feel the need to mention that some of you (at least to me) are coming off somewhat harsh. I fully understand the extent of what I did and paid for it quite dearly both with my status with the Disney Company and as a student having to graduate late. While many of you might think I am a young 21-22 yr old I am 25 and have maintained jobs before for multiple years and I am currently empolyeed at The W and have been here since my departure from WDW. Disney wasn't my first rodeo... I know how the workforce is and I know what I did what for a lack of a better word was stupid for someone that has been in the workforce since they were 15. I have learned from all this I was just simply asking if by some miracle I might be able to get into WDW again seeing that my mistakes where made as a CP. Either way what's done is done... you can't change the past right?

A few things OP IMHO no one came across as anywhere near harsh. No one flamed you but no one cuddled you either. Sometimes truth hurts, maybe that is what you are reacting to. I think you got the answers re-rehire possibility no one talked "down" to you so bringing your age into it means nothing..no you can't change the past but you can learn from it Have to add you ask if by some miracle ? Well obviously I believe in them, where they occur and to whom are not up to me

Well, if I were you, I might consider writing the Disney division that does the hiring a letter.

I'd tell them that you'd appreciate their consideration for employment and that at one time you'd been enrolled in the CP program, but that you'd made an error in judgment and was asked to leave.

Then I'd switch discuss the accomlishments you've achieved since that time and what you can now offer Disney in terms of growth, both personal and professional. Admit that you--in your youth--made some inappropriate decisions but you so admire the Disney ethic that you're once again applying for employment and hope they'll consider giving you another chance.

Liken yourself to Simba. He made a serious miscue as a cub and caused his father's death but rose to overcome it and save the herd.

That's simplistic but you'll get my drift.

Wow, I was going to say that I thought people here were being ridiculously nice to you. You did not one, but two stupid things. While I'm sure you're a nice person, why should Disney care? You broke their rules twice. I'm sure there's plenty of people who won't break their rules that would love a job as a CM, and they know that.
I also wouldn't be bragging about the fact that you're 25. I think that makes what you did less forgivable--at your age, you really ought to have known better. It's that not what you did was some sort of unforgivable sin, but you knowingly broke the rules of a company that takes employee conduct very, very seriously. That was a serious misstep in judgment.
No, I don't think "by some miracle" Disney will rehire you. They shouldn't. Move on, and enjoy your career at The W.
