S/O..have you ever had a thread go south on you?

Are you insinuating there's something bad about being Wiccan? ;) My kids' godparents are Wiccans!

BTW, so glad you posted about the "saving tables" thing! When I read that, I thought, "Wait, what?" Unless instructed otherwise (some restaurants have unique seating rules), that's always what we do - most of the party goes off to find a table, while one or two people grab lunch for everyone else! My thought is, do you really want us all standing in front you?
Not at all, I love me some Harry Potter! I'm a Slytherin....obviously. lol That wasn't me about the tables, but yeah, I go and get a table while my man is in line. Why wouldn't you? lol

I'd much rather have one or two tables not available as opposed to 50,000 people in line that don't need to be there.

Yep I've never been to any of the waterparks either, but even I know that's exactly how it's done. I live in Myrtle Beach with lots of water parks. First come first served and you just keep coming back to your little spot with your stuff on it. I'm actually surprised that there are people that don't know the drill. Weird. I'd have backed ya up. lol
Yes I wasn't aware there was another way. What are chairs for? Do people actually sit there all day and not leave?

Oh, you're right, that was Wenrob! My bad.

Glad we're all in agreement, though. My job is grabbing the table. His job is getting the food. We're a team!

Oh, and I've got a Slytherin son, a Ravenclaw daughter, and a Gryffindor husband. The boy intends to be funny (and is!), but sometimes offends his father and hurts his sister's feelings, and me - the Hufflepuff - ends up running around trying to make them all play nice.

Not to hijack the thread, but I don't understand about the waterpark chairs?

There are people that think you're supposed to leave everything in the lockers - even your beach bag & towels? And, every time, you get out of the water, you run to the lockers to get your stuff? Every time you get out you search for available chairs?

I can kind of understand getting upset w/ the people who go out early in the morning, stake out their chairs w/ towels, & then leave the area & don't come back until later in the day.

But, if we're actually at the waterpark (or pool), what's wrong w/ having a spot?

We belong to a pool, &, if it's crowded, we don't take up 5 chairs or anything, but, yes, I do put our stuff on a couple of chairs.

Oh, & we also split up at counter-service - one kid hangs w/ DH to help carry the trays, while the other 2 come w/ me to get napkins & stuff & then find a table where we wait.

OMG all four houses in one family! Your house IS Hogwarts! :jumping1: I'm moving in!

Well that's because you're normal and all. lol

I wonder if the chairs debate is people confusing water parks and resort pools? At a water park, you put your stuff on chairs as a home base to return to between rides, using them on and off all day. It's normal and expected. I think the people they're actually mad at are ones who stake out chairs at a resort pool in the morning, leave and go to the theme parks, and then want to come back late in the day to their waiting chairs (that have been needlessly unused for most of the day).

Maybe it's because I go at very busy times, but it really makes a mess when people save tables. You end up with a good third of the tables being saved by people who are sitting there waiting for their food while other people are roaming around with trays of food looking for an empty table. But there are not any empty tables since all the tables where people are not actively eating are all occupied by "savers". I don't give a mouse's butt when it's not busy.

Now that I get being annoying. I mean if you are at a park but reserving pool chairs for a pool you may or may not come back to...

Yep, DH takes the younger kids, gets napkins, silverware, condiments and grabs a table while myself and older DD order and get the food. (he's terrible at ordering) I had no idea it there was some unspoken rule about it until the DIS.

How long does it take to get food at CS in WDW? Not a snarky question, just a curious one. To me that's just getting a table.

Hell yeah. Why have the entire group in line? Can you imagine if BTG did it :rotfl2:

I stand in line with one kid and send the other two off to get a table, it's how it works worldwide. But now I suspect there might be lengthy rants about my bothersome behaviour on Disney forums.

I could see if you went and planted yourself for a half hour at an empty table while waiting for your party to arrive during a busy lunch hour. But sitting there while the rest of your party gets the food? I agree with you and don't see what the big deal is. People don't have enough to worry about...

I needed some back up!! Ha, ha!! Yes, it was weird! I kept trying to explain that the Disney water parks are set up to grab some chairs and park your stuff on it, but some posters would have none of that!! Then a few started to throw the insults!

I know, go figure!!! Well, I was schooled in that fact that if you ever go to the Wisconsin Dells water parks you do NOT leave anything on a chair!!!! Never mind the fact that the poster had asked specifically asked about DISNEY water parks!! I agree with you, I can not imagine going to a locker every time I wanted a towel or a snack or a drink. When we go to the Disney water parks we go back to our spot over and over all day.

Truly, I needed you folks four or so years ago on that thread!! Ha, ha!! I wish I could find it now!!

No, back on that thread that I got raked over the coals everyone knew we were clearly talking about the Disney water parks. The OP's original question had been to ask if you could bring food into a Disney water park. I had answered yes you could, and then went on to say about how you grab some chairs to set up a spot for the day and keep your cooler right at your spot.

Some posters told me that everyone should leave all of their things in a locker and only use a chair if you actually wanted to sit down. But you should not leave your items at the chairs once you left. I tried to explain that the Disney water parks had lots of lockers but they did not have lockers for every single guest to store their stuff in. It was a frustrating thread, I kinda felt like I was in the Twilight Zone once the name calling started!!

I've been to the Dells, but only to the Great Wolf Lodge, where saving chairs/tables while you are in the park is perfectly acceptable. I've never been to any other water park there, though, so I had no idea this is a rule.

And to add to the other comments about CS restaurants, yes, we've always split up, with some in our group getting the food while others find a table.

Yes, it was a thread about trick or treating on Halloween. I was chastised and made out to be completely evil because I took my kids out and didn't leave a bowl of candy on my doorstep. :sad2:

I don't have a "rule" for how others do it, but I've never left any of my personal possessions anywhere except on my person or in a locker when I'm at a water park. We only ever sit down if we're eating - and don't need towels until it's time to leave :)
