S/O..have you ever had a thread go south on you?

So, have you had a thread that makes you read the replies and go huh?
For sure. Especially the couple years after I quit being a moderator on this board, about 14 years ago. :scared1: A double :scared1::scared1: !! There were some doozies back then. I just searched and found one from mid 2003. Triple :scared1::scared1::scared1: LOL :lmao: Those were some strange times here.

I don't have a "rule" for how others do it, but I've never left any of my personal possessions anywhere except on my person or in a locker when I'm at a water park. We only ever sit down if we're eating - and don't need towels until it's time to leave :)

See, I guess I'm looking at a from the perspective of a regular pool. None of us are in the water the entire time or even all the time at the same time, so we need a "home base".

The water park 'rule' has me baffled. People want other people to run to lockers each time they want something...a drink, ventolin...

Where do these people meet up or do the hover over their family constantly.

Weird.

I guess it's moot as I'm never in the water as long as my kids so would be sitting at a table anyway.

I totally get the throwing a towel on a lounger and never returning annoyance.

Exactly!

(And sorry to keep on w/ the water park chair saving...)

Where can you check on points now? I have no idea anymore.

No idea! All I know is I got a PM that says this:

"Political and/or Religious comments are not allowed.

This warning comes with up to 20 points, which will not affect your ability to use the DIS unless additional points are also awarded before these expire in 15 days ." Since that was back on Feb 20th, and I've had no similar messages since, I assume they've expired by now.

And well deserved points they were, too. ;)

In my Inbox, from the same "so-called" Webmaster, there are two messages, both from August 24, 2015, for an alleged forum rules violation and a filter violation.

I am pleased to say that I have never opened either message. It is my passive-aggressive middle finger response to the above mentioned Webmaster, who is the only one who has ever awarded me points.

And yes, I've been involved in a lot of threads that quickly made a turn for the worse.

Let's see - vaccines and home schooling are favorites.

Vaccines I've seen on multiple threads but I haven't seen homeschooling..yet that is.

Has anyone said anything about threads asking about taking children out of school to travel to Disney......those can get ugly!!! ;)

lol, not mentioned on this thread but I've participated in a few threads :crutches:

Haha, another thread reminded me off another hot topic that came up in Oz forums.

'Should I invite the whole class to a birthday party?'

And of course anything relating to babies - breastfeeding/bottle feeding, circumcision, stay at home mum 'v' working mum, cloth nappies 'v' disposables.

Um, parents and pram parking. People who use parking for the disabled but they can walk all got emotional.

And I remember a thread on reusing stamps exploding in a great ball of fire.

Good times.

The posters had me baffled way back then too!! I can not imagine enjoying my day, if I had everything stashed away in a locker. I can see locking up money/park tickets/valuables, but have no need to lock up my towels/snacks/water/sunscreen! Its fun to have a home base to go back to every so often throughout the day, to have a little break.

See, I guess I'm looking at a from the perspective of a regular pool. None of us are in the water the entire time or even all the time at the same time, so we need a "home base".

Totally agree! The way we do the water parks is; arrive at opening and grab a spot.....go on water rides for a couple of hours then return to our spot for a snack, water and to re-apply sunscreen.....then we head back out again, but return to our spot about every hour to hour and a half for more sun screen and snacks. (I was treated for melanoma in my 20's, so we are diligent about re-applying sunscreen every hour or two. It would be such a hassle to have to keep going to a locker to retrieve it every time.) When my kids were little they used their goggles in the Lazy River, so would stop at our spot to grab the goggles every time before going into the Lazy River, then return to our spot to ditch them to go back on the water rides. My husband always brings a book with him and about 1/2 way through the day will sit and read for an hour, before hitting up the water slides again. Having a spot makes for a super relaxing day!

Anyway, that turned into a crazy thread with a few folks being adamant that I was being so rude for securing a spot for the day! I kept saying that the Disney water parks are truly set up to do exactly what I was doing, but there were a few that got pretty rude about it.

I've gotten those several times. What I've never found out is how many points you need to have at one time before you can't post. Is it 50? 10,000? I have no idea, so the warning is a little hollow. Of course if I disappear, it means I found the limit :)

I find people who have disappeared for reaching the limit of points to be rant worthy and frustrating when it happens to be a friend. No doubt someone will come along and state that the poster shouldn't have reached their limit, it's their own fault etc which is a fair call but still makes me stabby.

I think they should have some acknowledgement of posters who have recently been banned just under the newest member acknowledgement on the sidebar.

I think the limit might be 50 points. I think I spent most of the summer with 49.5

Banned posters should get one last day to come back and say bye to people. Of course, most could use it to go down in a blaze of glory. 'I'll show you why you banned me' LOL

Thanks for that, I've never seen it before. Since 60 gives you a vacation, I'm going to guess I had 50. It's water under the bridge but most of them were unwarranted. Probably hanging with the wrong crowd. @jevs I'm looking at you :rolleyes1
::yes:: Pretty sure my yard-giraffe tried to caution you about this yesterday...he just hates to see a sweet kid like you get caught up, KWIM?
